Description
I decided to give my older/rarely used characters some love~! Here are the age ranges you can choose from--the children and SOME teens obviously will have parents, but the adults (or those old enough to technically be adults/live alone will be considered adults) will be on their own.Kids (with families) : Raymond
Teens (with families) : Elijah , AJ , Fender , Jaylen
Teens (on their own) : Travis , Blake , Luan , Danny 'R' Anderson , Ashton , Ade , Valra
Adults (on their own) : Elton , Zakaru , Me (goth version) , Efren , Wesley Toruske (ages 18-27)
**NOTE** NO ONE WILL HAVE THEIR POWERS OR UNUSUAL BACKGROUNDS. Travis and so on won't have powers, Raymond won't have a monster, Fender will be only human, same with Valra, Wesley will be human too, etc. But, debating on if I should let Zakaru keep his powers or not...
Type in "Fish hook" if you read the description and understand the note section. If you don't, I'll ask you what the magic words are or tell you to look at the description again.

Elton cringed, scooping Kenneth up and hugging him. "Ken! Wake up, please!"

Kenneth squirmed. "Please! Please, don't hurt me!" he kept repeating, curling up, quivering, yet scared to move. He tried to protect himself from the invisible dream monster after him...then shuddered, gasping as life seemed to come back into him. The gasp was sharp and loud and his entire body tensed, his color at the moment just coming back to him. His briwm eyes were wide with terror and he was clawing at Elton's hand, though thankfully, his nails were short and it was just his fingers dragging. He almost fell out of Elton's hand when he jumped up, scooting back, he was so disoriented in the darkness.

Elton whined, hugging Kenneth to him. "Calm down, kiddo...calm down, it's okay...you're safe..." He said softly, kissing the borrower's head gently

Kenneth flinched harshly. "E-Elton?!" he whimpered...and abruptly burst into tears. He couldn't help it. "P-please...I'm so sorry...p-put me down." he cried, refusing to look up as he said it.

Elton bit his lip, putting Kenneth down gently. "What's wrong, kiddo?" He asked softly, looking over the smaller boy with fatherly concern

Kenneth wouldn't look at him, shuddering, holding himself. He tried feebly to wipe his eyes. "I-I...I'm so sorry." he whimpered, eyes wide at Elton...almost...fearfully. Hugging himself, he turned away...and darted across the bed quickly. He slid down the side of the bed nearest the wall, running away. He ducked behind the dresser and disappeared into the walls, upset and sniffling the entire way.

Elton gasped, shifting to start to go after the boy, biting his lip and looking down with a sigh. "...I'm sorry I made you stay..." He mumbled, his shoulders slumping. Was Kenneth really that scared of him?

Kenneth...had just had a terrifying nightmare...provoked by the instilled fear of humans. He shouldn't of. Let that fear transfer out and influence his actions...but it was too much, and then seeing the source of his fear in real life, seconds after waking up...even though Elton was so very much concerned for him, he was scared he might break down more than he had. Kenneth hadn't gone far. Just ran into the tunnel,mother sat against the wall, recuperating, letting out the horrible feeling he'd just had...trying to get over his dizziness. And he felt terrible for reacting that way.

Elton sighed, mumbling again "I'm sorry." His shoulders slumped as he straightened, heading to the bed to lie down in it, his heart heavy. Why had he forced the little guy to stay with him? He could have taken Kenneth to the hole so he could sleep comfortably...Elton groaned. "I'm an idiot."

Kenneth watched warily from where he was sure not to be seen. Elton...he wasn't scary. Not like what he'd seen in the dream, not at all. He knew this...and yet he was scared. Hesitant.

Elton sighed, his heart heavy as he shifted around uncomfortably, all thoughts going to Kenneth, worried about the boy

He stayed there all night, eventually dosing there just in the shadows by the dresser.

Elton woke in the morning, stretching and sitting up, sighing as he went to the kitchen to make breakfast for himself and his little friend

Kenneth was easily woken up, being a light sleeper by habit. He watched Elton go, only then remembering the night's events. He looked down, though was getting up. ...he had to make this right again.
Taking the path inside the wall, he made himself to the kitchen, climbing the rope he had on the inside and then coming out behind the toaster, peeking out at Elton. What could he even say?

Elton, by time Kenneth got there, was cracking an egg and putting it into a pan lightly oiled, reaching for a few shreds of cheese on a plate next to the stove. When the egg was mostly cooked scrambled, he sprinkled the cheese on top, getting a plate and a napkin, the plate for him and the napkin for Kenneth, should he make an appearance

Kenneth noticed this, smiling quietly in silent appreciation. Elton was still trying, wasn't he? Well...it'd only be fair if he himself tried too. He took a steadying breath and stepped out, waiting until Elton looked his way before waving hesitantly over, mostly because of the awkwardness he felt from the night before.
"...morning..."

Elton did a brief double take, then smiled softly, turning the flame off once the egg was done. "Hey Ken...how are you feeling this morning? Were you too warm or something in my bed last night? I've read somewhere that if it's too warm, it increases the chances of nightmares..."

Kenneth stepped out more, shrugging a little. "I'm not sure. I feel so silly for freaking out like that...im really sorry. It's habit, not you. Just...all my life being told giants are big and scary and should be avoided...and the there's you, who...doesn't fall into that category."

Elton smiled, reaching forward slowly and stroking Ken's back gently. "...hey, it's okay...I understand. It's something you've been told your whole life, so when you met something different...you weren't sure how to react..."

Ken forced himself to stay where he was and not freak out...he was a lot calmer, though, than he thought he'd be. "...yeah. Pretty much."

He smiled, putting some of the egg on a napkin, offering it to him

Kenneth took it gratefully. Smiling, he settled himself near his giant friend, eating and more at ease.

Elton smiled. "I'm glad you came, Kenneth."

Kenneth gave a hesitant smile. "...I...I'm glad you were still willing to be my friend." the young borrower stated. "...how'd you know I might come back out?"

Elton shrugged. "To be honest, I didn't...I was intending on leaving the egg on the napkin on this counter or something...just because you had a nightmare last night, it doesn't mean I stopped caring about you."

Kenneth smiled a little. "So...you aren't mad at me for running off like that? Or sad? I was...worried I'd hurt your feelings." he admitted.

Elton sighed. "I wasn't mad...I was upset at seeing your distress...and...I felt like I had caused it...I'm sorry..."

The smaller paused, looking down. "...you didn't do anything, you know." he said quietly.

Elton sighed. "...I know, but...I feel like I caused it."

He looked bothered. "Elton...I like being around you. I do. You're my first friend...in awhile. It was silly of me to have a bad dream and take it out on you when you've been nothing but really nice."

Elton sighed, reaching to rub the borrower's back. "Hey, it's okay..."

Kenneth stayed put, letting himself be comforted. "...I...I dreamed...that you brought a friend over...one that was fascinated by me...but they caught me...took me away..."

Elton frowned, then scooped the borrower up, hugging him gently. "...let me tell you something, kiddo...I just got out of prison for a crime I didn't do not too long ago...I have no friends, no one to bring over...you're safe..."

The 14-year-old shuddered as he sighed, nodding. He'd do everything to hang onto that thought, to never forget it just in case. "...a-alright..."
That hasn't been the entirety of the nightmare...no, it got worse, but he decided now he no longer wished to relive it.

Elton smiled. "And even if I did have a friend...I would never, ever put you in danger...I'll do everything to protect you."

Kenneth leaned into his hold, feeling safer. "I believe you." he said quietly. "I just don't ever want to dream that again."

Elton sighed. "...that's one thing I can't protect you from, your dreams..."

Kenneth shook his head quietly. "I'll...just try to stop them. Don't worry, it won't ever be as bad as last night again." he smiled warily.

Elton sighed, stroking the boy's back gently. "I worry about you, kiddo."

Kenneth tried to be brave. "Don't worry about me...I'll be just fine. You'll see."

He smiled, kissing Kenneth's head gently. "Okay."

Kenneth smiled. Hopefully that would be true. But that night...he was honestly very reluctant to fall asleep, leaning against his friend tiredly.

Elton looked down at his friend as he laid in bed, stroking Kenneth's back gently. "Go to sleep, kiddo...it'll be okay."

Kenneth yawned. "I, uh...I will." he murmured. He wished Elton wouldn't rub his back...it felt good, made him want to nod off right there. He closed his eyes, but wouldn't allow himself to, even as his head kept bobbing. He whined a little. "Elton..." he started to say, but then didn't know what else to say. He blinked tiredly, looking down.

Elton looked down at Kenneth when he said his name, sighing softly. "Ken...go to sleep...you're tired...trust me, no matter what happens I'll still be here when you wake up. If you have another nightmare I'll comfort you..."

Kenneth sighed back, shifting around. "...okay...okay."
He gave up, he was just too pooped. He curled up next to Elton, trying to relax. He nodded off almost immediately.

Elton smiled, lifting the boy up to his chest, his hand over the borrower to keep him warm as he dozed off slowly

For awhile...all seemed well. Until around midnight. It happened all over again. Kenneth woke himself up before he started thrashing. He covered his mouth to keep quiet, quivering...until he realized where he was. He bit the hem of his shirt, trying not to wake his friend. 'Nononono not again...I'm okay, it wasn't real, I'm fine...' So why couldn't he stop shivering? He wiped his eyes quickly.

Elton groaned a bit, feeling the tiny being shivering, shifting as he woke, mumbling softly. "Ken? Are you alright, kiddo?"

Ken gulped quietly. He acted like he'd just woken up, trying hard. "Huh? Oh...I-I'm fine." he chuckled nervously. He stretched a little. "I'm just...cold."
That wasn't true. Kenneth winced at the lie. All Elton had to do was shift his hand and feel that Kenneth was actually really warm...sweating a tiny bit. He looked down, hoping he wouldn't turn on the light.
