Why they two are shipped so often? I get this Dream vs Nightmare dynamic, but beside that... did they get some comic/show/cartoon interactions I dont know about?

They're paired up a few times, as working partners. Most notable being 'The Long Halloween'. They are also seen within BTAS playing chess in the background of 'Joker's Wild'. Though, admittedly, most of the appeal comes from fans creating their own material. Of thinking how a friendship between the two would develop-- especially since in many incarnations both are avid readers.
