Description
I was halfway done with the genderbent season one Digidestined when I decided that I really wanted to draw genderbends for the second season as well. The name explanations for the first generation Destined can be found here: [link]I actually decided to give these kids names that had their name meanings match them rather than have the names themselves match, this is mostly because of the problems Daisuke caused me.
Tomoko Motomiya: Daisuke's genderbend self. The story here is that I couldn't find a SINGLE Japanese girl's name that started with a D, so I ended up looking up names that matched his crests. So I looked up names that held the same meaning as 'friendship' or 'courage'. And then I found Tomoko, which I picked out due to 'Tomo' standing for 'friend'.
Satomi Hida: Iori's genderbend self. Satomi's name was picked out using the same pattern as Daisuke's, to keep up the consistency. In ended up looking for several different translations for Jyou's and Koushirou's crests until I found a name that was to my liking. 'Sato' means 'wise'.
Yuko Ichijoji: Ken's genderbend self. I actually had several different options for the name here, since there are several Japanese girls' names that contain a part that stands for 'kind'. I ended up with Yuko mainly because I liked the sound of it the most.
Ren Inoue: Miyako's genderbend self. I didn't really want to have both of Miyako's and Mimi's genderbent selves to have the same name meaning, so I looked up what names I could find that contained the a part that stood for love. Ren was one of the few results I got, but I was pleased with how well it fit.
