Description A piece commenting on the effect of digital media on our lives/behavior using the DTV transition in the US as a starting point... I chose to focus on TV because it is an older media that's been around since the 1930s, compared to what we are surrounded with today--like the Internet--and everything seems to be going digital or connecting to the Internet..or cyberspace I guess...that we really don't know how it'll effect us in the way future. But we are beginning to see certain behaviors that make us question how these technologies are effecting how we communicate with people, thus the "Please stand by".. Guess we'll just have to wait a couple more decades to see how this plays out...

That...was the intended purpose anyway..don't know how effectively I pulled it off..kind of went off on a tangent...
planning to make a second part I think....

I really like this. It makes me think of daft punk's Television Rules the Nation track. It could be used as a stock photo

I haven't heard much of Daft Punk's music... I'll have to give that one a listen to

cool concept. Love the lines. It's simple but compelling. And the more you look at it, the less simple it becomes with is great

Powerful piece. I love the message here, and can really relate to it. I'm old enough to still be in awe of the internet at times, of the immediacy of information. I rarely watch tv anymore.

It kind of looks like a black hole (cyberspace, maybe) may be forming there at the bottom. I think tv, like newspapers, is definitely an endangered species, at least in their well-known forms.

Sorry for the essay, this is just really thought-provoking.

Hey, essays are welcome , and yes, the bottom there is supposed to by cyberspace

I've recently taken an interest in creating art with (hopefully) a meaning after visiting some contemporary art exhibitions. Some were definitely "WTF" pieces while others really made me think--and those inspired me to try to do something a little more thought-provoking than what I've recently been doing.

I rarely watch TV as well, and probably spent a little more than half my life on the Internet (since becoming commercial) I agree with you about TV being an "endangered species", what with streaming and YouTube and whatnot.

Thanks for your input --I really appreciate it . Good to know someone's looking into it
