I love the composition.
This has been one of my favorite movies since I saw it in Cinerama in the theater when it first came out.

Thank you. Yeah I first saw it when I was 10 I think and I loved it. I remember back in the old days of home video when movies were $80, MGM released copies of 2001 for $24.99 to help promote the upcoming release of 2010. I begged my dad to buy it for me since it was so cheap, that was the first movie I actually ever owned.

I'm not sold on the size and/or position of the monolith. It looks like the ship melts into it, and kind of creates a big, globby form right in the middle of an otherwise awesome picture.

Thank you Yeah the ship and monolith blending together was what I was going for. I like the term melting, that's even better. But without the monolith it didn't look as good, not to me anyway.
