This looks like something half out of a steampunk setting and half out of the game, Deus Ex (which really should be called Deus Ex Machina). It looks like one of those super AIs, where its "visible form" is just a head and what it could look like in an alternative Victorian era. You can clearly see the fine blend between one of futuristic tech and one of the birth of industrialisation, even if that was never your original intention.

No you got it exactly right. The blend between futuristic and old industry was exactly my motivation. Kind of like the movie 'Brazil'. I've always liked the grunge of smoke and rust mixed with the things that new technology is able to accomplish. I love the past vision of the future, the way they thought things were going to be, rockets that look like bullets, wires hanging from everywhere, lights blinking randomly but with some kind of purpose (as though our taste for nice and neat would suddenly not exist anymore). In all honesty, I don't know why I haven't done more of these types of images.
