Sev: "Boss, I've got a problem here..."

Boss: "Sev, where are you?"

Sev: "Sector...multiple hostiles..."

Fixer: "Lost his signal, Boss."

Boss: "Well, find it again, damn it! Delta, regroup. We're going after Sev."

Forward Air Controller: "Negative negative, Three-Eight, new orders came through from the generals—clear the area and evac now."

▶ Art Description:

Currently:

Sev sings "Vode An " to face the multiple enemies that come for him over and over.

Minutes ago:

With a bit of good-natured coaxing from General Tur-Mukan, Delta Squad infiltrated a Separatist turbolaser battery complex with the intent to commandeer the contained firepower to take out the Recusant-class destroyer. With Clone Commander Gree considering alternative landing sites—each too far removed from the main offensive to be effective—Delta Squad captured one turbolaser turrent for each commando, and opened fire on the Commerce Guild destroyer, joined in the attack by a wing of General Vos' LAAT/i gunships. After sustaining heavy damage, the Recusant destroyer began to fall, but while the majority of Delta Squad planned for a hasty exit, Sev radioed in with a report of coming under attack from multiple hostiles. When Boss ordered the squad to go back for Sev, Vos'Forward Air Controller instead ordered Delta to leave, stating that the order had come directly from General Yoda himself. Though Scorch argued to the point of tears, Boss forced him to comply and moved the remaining three members of Delta Squad onto the gunship that had arrived to extract them, but not without first making a guilty apology to Sev.

This is why I support order 66, because I like clones better than Jedi. And it was a Jedi's orders that got Sev (killed?) and caused a rift between Scorch, Fixer and Boss. The fact that Boss didn't tell Advisor to Feirfek himself, and rescue Sev is unbelievable. This reminds me a lot of the Crysis series, Prophet being a dick and getting Aztec, Jester, and Nomad killed all because he was following orders. Worst part, we will never know what happened to Sev because Republic Commando will never have its sequal. Curse you Disney for taking Lucasarts and the possibly of Republic Commando 2 away from us!

The clones actually had great respect for the Jedi who fought alongside them. They would never have killed the Jedi had they not been tricked. Had they found out the truth about Order 66, most clones would likely have been deeply grieved.

One word, Bakara. (Really hope I spelled his name right) Though that wasn't what I meant, I meant that the clones went through the ringer, and not a single feirfek (fuck) was given.

I don't know. The Expanded Universe is so feirfecked up that how Jedi or clones are differs greatly between any two book series or cartoons or the movies. I liked the clone commandos because of the first two books and I loved clones in general (mostly because of their epic Episode2 armour!) until the order 66 (and Episode3 armour). And Jedi I liked or not depending on the books (same with the sith). But what Boss did here was just plain absurd; just take a look at how Darman behaves during evac from Geonosis at the beginning of "Hard Contact" (threatens some officer into waiting for his squadmates although he's almost sure they're dead).

Some people attribute it to the fact that Walon Vau was a particular hardass.

kronusnec In reply to AutisticChick [2014-11-27 19:39:19 +0000 UTC]

Well, yes, he was, but Boss and Sev had always been around each other and they were as close-bonded as it can be, otherwise the squad wouldn't be the best. The only thing I would try to 'reasonably' attribute it to would be clones being conditioned to obey orders (which would have made them more like droids, and they were not; hence it is not reasonable).

AutisticChick In reply to kronusnec [2014-11-27 23:24:24 +0000 UTC]

I disagree; I think that humans can be conditioned a great deal into following orders. ABA therapy does this. It also happens in cults or totalitarian governments where brainwashing occurs. Take the Nazis.

I don't think it would have made them more like droids, especially in this case where they were likely indoctrinated from infancy. They were humans, albeit cloned humans, and so just as susceptible to conditioning as any vulnerable human.

Part of conditioning is the fear of repercussions or respect for one's mentors. This is why I think the Vau theory holds water. He would have been able to have an enormous influence on the young clones.

kronusnec In reply to AutisticChick [2014-12-01 19:15:35 +0000 UTC]

And Vau did. And if in his teachings there was something that would have pushed Boss to abandon Sev, something other than obedience, then I did not know of it, sorry.
As for the conditioning: the clones were conditioned, but not to the point of obeying every order, however insane. They had minds of their own which gave them an edge against the droids. More independent units, like ARCs, even deserted; and Commandos were only one level beneath ARCs. (Actually, in the Clone Wars cartoons I think there was a normal trooper who deserted, but I don't remember for certain; he might have been an ARC as well; and the cartoons are a different story entirely).

AutisticChick In reply to kronusnec [2014-12-01 22:30:21 +0000 UTC]

I'm aware of the deserters, but remember that each clone is a person with his own mind and experiences and each different person is more or less susceptible to influences in his own way.

I think he was a normal clone.

I know right? But this proves that the clones are always given the short stick. I mean almost all of the commandos get wiped out during the first battle for Geonosis. Do the remaining commandos get a chance to mourn their fallen brothers? No, they just get redeployed to the next hell hole to do it all over again. In fact, that is what happens to all the clones, they fight, they get killed, they move on. No one ever thinks, 'Hmm, you think that the clones want to stop fighting for a few weeks?'or 'Why don't we give the fallen clones a funeral?' Sure they probably would just want to get vengeance and kill a few thousand clankers, but the point still needs to be made.

Short stock given by Sidious mostly and his manipulations. There are questions like that in the books, but keep in mind they were created for this war. Like organic droids, really. And I don't see how one could organise a funeral for thousands of men at once, especially with a probability of being attacked by the CSI.

Thelonewandererof101 In reply to kronusnec [2014-10-08 00:04:34 +0000 UTC]

But they are still living beings, not soulless droids, (not saying that R2 and 3PO are soulless) they deserve the same rights reserved for all significant organic life. Hell, it doesn't have to be that spectacular, (it would be nice if it was) it could be a quick memorial service, or a short speech from either a jedi, or Palpatine himself.

That's what I'm saying, no one did. Not one single person did jack shit for the clones. It's upsetting, because the clones are awesome. (Especially the republic commandos. Delta Squad for the win!)
