My FIRST EVER drawing to be colored on PHOTOSHOP!!!
yay!Please let me know what you think-- I'm still experimenting... and developing a style...

I just recently finished reading the book (and crying at the end) and the part that I remember most, partly because I saw the broadway, was the masquerade, and you brought the book to life. ^^ Good job!

I am vastly amused by the apparent blending of Leroux's and the recent movie's Red Death costumes.
And you gave Raoul a (Leroux) mustache!
You did a fabulous job of coloring this, though I have to admit I do miss the colored pencil look of your other pieces. It's so uniquely you. Well, that and the "Love is . . ." look to your characters.
You do what YOU like. I'm sure you won't lose many, if any, followers.

thank you! I'm glad you noticed the mustache. I almost forgot to add it... but then I remembered.
I'm not sure what inspired me on this costume of his-- the only descriptions from the book include a large hat with feathers, a long kingly cape, a death's head, and the embroidered letters on his cloak (which I didn't inlude, because I always envisioned it on his BACK). But yes, his jacket/coat looks very "Gerik", doesn't it?

Been having BIG TIME troubles with our internet connection this month, so if it seems I'm ignoring you, I'm not. (We've had internet service about 9 days so far this month, and NOT 9 days in a row.)
Anyway, I'd always rather assumed it was Erik's REAL face exposed during the masquerade. I seem to recall there were a number of comments regarding how fantastic his "mask" was, and how did it work? I figured Leroux had used the irony on purpose.
Well, I suppose I'd better get this off to you before we lose our internet access YET AGAIN!

Anywho-- yes, at first I thought it would be a nice idea... but then again, Christine tells Raoul to try to imagine the "death's head" come ALIVE. So apparently, Erik wasn't unmasked... it was a lifeless mask (that ironically is not as terrible as his actual face!), like in the silent film.

I got CS4. It's the latest, I believe, in photoshop tech. This one may be the most expensive, though. I believe that CS2 or CS3 is just about as good. You may also want to try photoshop Elements... it has all the good stuff, and is less than 100 dollars I believe.

^_^ Gosh, thanks! I may not have included the "Don't touch me!..." embroidered on Erik's cape, but I always imagined it on his back, so-- since we can't see his back anyway-- I decided not to add it.
