zomg, the hugs that man needs. oddly enough, i was entirely unphased by Erik's face in the movie. still hot to me ^.^ I'm probably shallow though. XD though the entire time i was thinking "Can we go ahead and kill the guy with girly hair already? I don't like his wimpyness."

*late comment* true! no, it's not shallow to love movie Erik. He's adorable as the Phantom. hehe! I used to hate Raoul. But that's when I was 13-15... as you mature, I think you realize just how valuable a strong and kind man Raoul is!

I don't know. I find him a little dimwitted. Your girlfriend goes missing shows back up and your all "It's just a dream" kinda not realistic. In the book however he was all "I'll kill him." XD I give him credit for putting up with a lot though. He's patient at the very least. XDXDXD

good point. Yes. But I think if I were in Raoul's position, I would've done much the same thing. He's been born and raised an aristocrat, the most interesting thing in his day would probably be that his toast got burnt or his cravat got wrinkled. I'm sure he gets an occasional horse-back ride and some fencing lessons, but I'm sure he's not living life on the edge and getting to experience all sorts of crazy stuff. It's not a reflection on his character, it's just how life has occurred around him. He's been born into that world.
Anyway, so when he sees Christine for the first time in years THAT is his big event. He is so focused on their getting re-acquainted, that he forgets everything else. True, he is oblivious to her wherabouts when she is "kidnapped" by Erik in POTO/MOTN etc... but it's quite clear to me that the Phantom was very tricky and she slipped right under his nose. Raoul had no chance of finding where she was except in his usual fashion... asking around.
It's clear that he dismisses most of Christine's stories as dreams, and I think that first is evident in "Little Lotte." The WHY is because, again, who would actually believe in an "angel of music" much less that the Phantom of the Opera exists etc. etc... maybe Christine always had her head in the clouds and this was kind of her "old" self re-surfacing. He's at least glad that she's the same girl he knew.
He couldn't imagine the Phantom was real UNTIL "why so silent" and that's when he sees the Opera Ghost in flesh and blood. It's then that the game changes for Raoul, and he does not sit back and tell Christine to chill out. The opposite. Some even say he goes too far in trying to nab the Phantom, but it seems that either way Raoul bends he gets a bad wrap!
But anyway phew! I applaud you if you read all that. Idk why I wrote all that. XD hehe
