muuzzzz!!
many many thanks

yeah man. it feels like ages. life is ok. much work. many overhours. much motivation to do awesome little private projects, which gets devoured by overhours in the end ;D
someone should really buy a thick neat sketchbook to fill it with awesome ideas which need realization in the future. frmo building that cool furniture to doing that short animation or the wall mural thingy....

i wished i could hang out with artist freinds in a loft and just do creative stuff all day , all week long for month and get paid  for it xD

how is life for you? i hope it goes well. where you able to grab something in the art field so far?

cheers!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

muzzoid In reply to dasAdam [2014-11-26 13:59:01 +0000 UTC]

Haha yeah don't we all know the feeling of not having the time to work on what we want

Yeah that's the dream isn't it, just spend all day being creative.

For life... eh i guess i'm going through a bit of a focus and identity crisis with art. I realised the direction i've been heading has been a horrible negative feedback loop of doing work i didn't enjoy and  not doing a great job of it, meaning i never started making stuff i was liking.

I worked in a studio for about 3 years making mobile games, (fruit ninja, lol), and another almost 3 years now failing at making a decent living freelancing, essentially causing my quality of life to be almost non existent. So i'm trying to refocus on what I actually like, and i think i realized i don't really like games and i want to make a serious move to 2d animation. Which really means i need to change up my skill-set and seriously consider moving to asia, as that's the only place actually doing any worthwhile 2d animation anymore. So I'm trying to go back to uni next year to try and refocus... but we will see.

I'm glad to hear things are going a lot better for you and not everyone is holding onto the shitty end of the stick .

dasAdam In reply to muzzoid [2014-11-26 14:49:23 +0000 UTC]

identity crisis *ALARM*

hey ! being able to to a full 180 is neat. not everyone is suited for that... some even dont see that kind of an option anymore. life is the time where you are living and doing the things you are interested in. you can find a job in any field as long as you dont look at the money first.

mobile games industry is a harsh place for sure xD   and as for the freelance life. i discovered that you need to grab onto jobs and little projects but you should also just invest some energy to create your own art to the fullest of your capabilities. since people will come for you and your skills when they se the pieces you poured the most heart into. these pieces shine  and you shouldnt think about trying to produce what people like. its rather the opposite. this way you might generate interestfor the right poeple ,..... well by simple doing what you love the most.
if you are considering to pick up 2d animation that is uber awesome dude!

but i was also thinking: being in the vfx industry , seeing the small budgets for mid scale productions and sick deadlines i can only imagine that being in the 2d animation field things must be maybe even "sicker"
moving to asia might even be an ideal solution . often times ive heard that asia is always searching for western talent. you might just even be able to get into a different field if 2d animation wont work out that fast as you wanted.

never grab the tip of the stick by default either! thats where  the shit is sticking in many cases ;D

muzzoid In reply to dasAdam [2014-11-27 06:04:08 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yeah, i think it is cool being able to consider doing a 180.

I think the biggest thing is to be able to spin around and do what you really truly want. While Im good at drawing mechs, and making mobile games, it's not where my heart truly is and i don't see the drive to try and somehow be the best at either of these things. I do enjoy both of them but i don't want to make the rest of my career about them.

I am already a competent animator so it's lot like it's dropping everything i know.

Sadly i don't think you can be in this industry for the money, not unless you are a business man, you need to be ontop of your stuff heavily to be able to do that.

But thanks for the words man, i think there is a lot of sense in there .

there is lots of grammar in there too xD  .. i realized after reading it again..

yeah! you made up your mind and you actually know what you wanna strive for ; what makes you happy. thats the most valuable part. no one can take that away from ya.

so waht you are saying is: whenever i might need some cool 2d animation stuff or effects i will give you a bump
