An unyielding shadow within Talori's newfound light, Amir remains an enduring enigma. The man draws little attention to himself in the public eye, as he finds his duties lie in seedier circles. Lending a hoof where interactions in the herd's Rogue factions require a little more finesse, his silver tongue has struck many a deal in the main herd’s favor. Whatever was asked of him, it was always his goal to deliver that and more for the benefit of the herd. Educated from his youth in matters of politics, strategy and business, he rarely asks for second opinions on any issues brought to his attention before acting on them. And while his record is lined with more successes than failures by a respectable margin, his overzealousness is not beyond reproach. Striving for perfection has its cons, and not everyone appreciates such close scrutiny.

His counsil is to be taken with a grain of salt, in part due to his resistence against change. Among his peers, Amir’s vote has always fallen conservative on social matters and strictly isolationist in border control, save for the controlled vein of Rogue imports. And though he might obey when the council’s favor falls far from his own, he isn’t one to accept the corruption of tradition lightly.

Very much married to his work, Amir finds himself more accustomed to nights at sea than home; though he's distanced himself completely with his wife's untimely passing. Though he kept up appearances when needed as a family man, he rarely paid them any thought until recently. While he wouldn't quite consider himself as loving them, he does hold a certain fondness for his wife and children. In her absence he finds himself unable to console his adult offspring, but offers them his condolences from afar as he continues to carry out his duty.

Those who once shared his traditionalist philosophy have been swept up by the changing tides; and though he refuses to let them overtake him too, he grows weary of progress. Foreign influence brings nothing but corruption in his mind; if it weren't for the ideas of outsiders, Pegasi would still know their place. Contempt brews in his heart, only tempered by his charge to serve the herd. Even so, Amir finds himself convinced that Talori can return to its former glory, and that he knows what should be done to achieve it.

History
Amir was born into a life of expectations. He became a philosopher’s apprentice in his early years to escape the restrictive environment at home, finding a love for politics in the city; particularly, their influence beyond the public eye. Becoming a philosopher himself, Amir further pursued the duties of office and all they entailed. That interest fueled his years of study, and he was voted into the council at 30. His home life remained lackluster as his career thrived; he found particular use in the less attractive dealings that kept the people safe. In the wake of recent change, Amir finds himself unwilling to bend as he once did. He stands firm in his belief that Talori’s traditions have served them well, and has pursued knowledge of Digend to ensure they remain.

Perhaps Amir was not meant for greatness, but in his purpose he found a fulfillment he'd never known. His years as a tenderfoot were not carefree as one might assume given his status. Son of an illustrious bloodline, expectations were levied upon his shoulders straight from the womb. Receiving strict instruction in all manners of culture and information, his parents refused the child praise even as he exceled far beyond expectations. Rather they chose to push him further, and he continued to bend, taking it all in stride.

Naturally such potential didn’t go unnoticed, and when one of his more esteemed philosopher tutors suggested apprenticeship Amir seized the opportunity. Leaving home at his own insistence, the colt was able to develop free of his parents' stifling influence. Though in hindsight he would say the tutelage thereafter was lackluster, it was the freedom it afforded that made all the difference. Situated in the outskirts of Inaria, Amir was exposed to all manner of ideas. His experiences would shape his view of the herd, and his understanding of his place in it. Attuned to the subtext of the citydwellers, his impressionable mind accepted their views as his own. Soon he too avoided the gazes of winged folk, and viewed himself as one of a priviledged few.

Amir found himself enthralled by the political arena, and his research as a philosopher became focused on the subject. The rise and fall of council members, the stengths and weaknesses of their terms. He examined and scrutinized how they toiled, and how the herd changed in turn. Emperors past were not beyond his careful analysis, though he kept their faults to himself.

After his training was completed, Amir refused to return to his parents; instead he remained in the city, further pursuing the politics that had consumed him. It was fascinating, how so few controlled the lives of many; besides the Trinity and the Emperor himself, they were the highest position of power. Yet, it was their duty to act in the people's interest; to exceed expectations and allow Talori to flourish. He wanted that path for himself. The power maybe, but also the challenge. And that desire stuck with him as he built repoire among his peers, biding his time until the he could act on it. His words held weight in higher circles as his seniors promoted his efforts. Until the very council he sought to join became interested in what he had to offer.

When that day came none were surprised that those years had been time well spent. He was elected into the Council promptly at the age of 30, not only for his now exceptional skills in negotiation for which the herd had great use, but also his knowledge concerning the Isle of the Dead. In his studies, Amir had found much to be desired in their relationship, and thus had pushed the positives of grooming that relationship as part of his agenda. However in doing so he'd only utilized what could be gleaned from books and word of mouth. When it came time to test his understanding, negotiations weren't nearly as he'd expected. Only through years of interactions did he become familiar enough to turn small losses into large gains, and by the time of his reelection, his position was sealed. By learning to speak their language, he found a battlefield suited to testing his wit and with it, a way to benefit the herd. Through controlled interactions with the outside world, they imported things of value and exported any waste that might taint the water.

He was particularly proactive in advising the deportation of criminals. Aquore was a haven that needed protection from such undesirables. When advising the Emperor in matters of state, his firm standings were met with respect, though not always agreement. In those cases, Amir wasn’t above dealing under the table to ensure he had his say. If he thought it would benefit the herd, no lie was too cheap and no favor ran too high. He was only maintaining order, keeping things running smoothly as they had always been.

It was sometime between his first and second term when his parents decided they'd had enough of their son's attitude. Calling Amir back for a family summit, they ambused him bearing a bride. She was a hippocampus like any other, nothing outstanding beyond a bloodline to match his own. He agreed to the arragement without protest, that they might busy themselves elsewhere when the dust settled. The wedding was extravagant, or so he was told. He spent the ceremony with a glass poised at his lips, waiting for the charade to end. Morning came and Amir returned to the city, wife in tow. Following the respectable grace period, he sired a child with her. Their love, and subsequent daughter's rearing, were all business. He might have been more involved, had it been a son, though the later birth of said offspring proved the notion false. Rather than spend time in the company of his growing family, Amir preferred reaping the rewards of a job well done.

Then the Flock attacked, demanding justice for a Pegasus child. Amir was among those calling for their heads. A vague distaste was fanned into an unbridled hate. Traitors, he branded them, lucky to live off of Talori’s prosperity. In full support of Torrine, he looked upon the camp’s existence as a testament to their barbaric nature. Untrustworthy beasts needed to be caged, lest they bite off their master’s head.

Amir was in negotiations on the Isle when Freedom’s Flight laid seige to Inaria. However his wife wasn't so fortunate, and his children were imprisoned in Torrine for the duration of the occupation. He remained among allied rogues, watching from afar as his world crumbled.

When he returned to find his family in shambles. He took care of everything; funeral arrangements were made and for the first time since his sister's death, he mourned. But there was little time to consider her loss, as years of Talori tradition were swept out from under him. The Emperor was slain, the Divine was a Pegasus, and Serora now held Talori under its hoof. Cascade herself had appeared and condemned her people’s struggle against the wind god’s offspring.

He had lost hope and heart until a relative stranger brought him news of their salvation. Naasir told him of a god who had the power to restore Talori to its former glory, and perhaps to right whatever chaotic forces had altered the goddess.

His actions in the time since have been those of uncharacteristically quiet resistance. Though he might wish to abandon his position in favor of greater effectivity elsewhere, he remains. Waiting patiently until Digend's followers rise, Amir seeks out those who value the old ways, sharing with them the knowledge that they are not alone.

Perhaps Amir was not meant for greatness, but in this purpose he found a fulfillment he'd never known. For the people's sake, he would make things right. The rise of a new ruler and the fall of his fellow Councilors marked the perfect beginning to Talori’s glorious return.

Other- in light of recent events, Amir now harbors the dangerous notion that even the goddess can be led astray by foreign influence.

- serving on the council since the year 1666, Amir has been relatively silent for the past few terms. He retained his position only through favors and the people’s general comfort with him in office as a liason to the Rogues.

- preferred the rule of Emperor Caledon to that of Hawkeye. Is unsure of the newly crowned Empress.
