yay for the rule of thirds! nice job!! 13sec exposure? my brain isn't comprehending how the stars don't have trails at 13 seconds. doesn't really matter though, love the picture!

Thanks. Who'd have thought those stodgy old rules would ever come in handy?
I don't really get noticable star trails until I get well above 30 seconds per exposure. Even then, I find they're not too noticable.

nice, i live in the city and haven't ventured out to try some nice long exposures. i feared for the longest that any exposure over 5 secs would make the stars streak i'm happy to see that's not the case! good times

Hi PracticallyPudent,
You should have no worries whatsoever doing exposures? I'd be fairly certain you should get up to 20-25seconds without too much in the way of star trails (particularly if you point towards the celestial pole)
Hope this helps
Take care,
S

That's what I said at the time. Along with "wait, crap, did I get that in the shot, or not?"
Turns out I did.

Oh yeah I remember that! It happened several times. My problem was due to the fact I wasn't exposing at the time D'OH!
Will we ever learn? (probably not lol)
This photo is freaking amazing! Print.
