Description
It was a real pea souper tonight. One where one couldn't even see their hand in front of their face.
Well, Alison Blaire could as hers glowed and formed a search light. But the fog was so thick the beam couldn't pierce it.
Susan Richards decided to make as much of it as she could invisible. With the vapor seemingly gone they could see the tombstones scattered about. It reminded them both of a set from one of those old horror movies.
Ali was tempted to make a crack about Igor digging up a body for Baron Frankenstein but thought better of it. Now was not the time to crack wise.
The Invisible Woman placed her hand on Dazzler's shoulder. "Let's get started."
Ali nodded. "Okay, sponge. Start soaking."
And THAT was the only joke she planned to make.
Ali closed her eyes and focused. It was already quiet in the old cemetery. But now it was eerily quiet. At least it was to Sue. She couldn't even hear herself breathe.
Sue knew that Dazzler was now in full sound absorption mode. Normally the mutant girl could draw in noise and people around her could still hear it. But if she concentrated she'd create a zone of silence around herself and the immediate area. No one in the area could hear anything. But Dazzler could hear everything.
EVERYthing.
From an insect's footsteps on up. If it made a sound she'd hear it. Thanks to the teachings of Professor X, Dazzler was pretty darn close to being a female version of DareDevil. At least as far as the audio senses were concerned.
Despite herself Sue was startled when Ali spoke. Her voice was the only thing that could be heard in Dazzler's zone of silence.
Ali pointed and said, "That way."

Good story
I like how the character's powers were manifested - Sue made the fog invisible so she and Allison could see better. I have to say that was a clever and novel use of her power ( But then we have come expect that sort of thing in your work.
- Alison's "zone of silence" / total sound absorption mode. The description of it's effect was excellent (and I like that your story makes a point to mention that it was Professor X 's teachings and training that helpled her achieve this level of skill and expertise). I liked the comparison to Dare Devil
As to why the heroines are in the cemetary and who or what they are looking for I know better than to speculate . Your stories always surprise as well as entertain.
So I will just sit back and enjoy
Thank you for a good first chapter.

It's going to be a simple 3 part that involves my two favorite Marvel girls, Ali and Sue. But it will be open ended. Meaning that if someone wants to add to the concept they are welcome to do so. After all, I don't own these characters. I just play with them and hopefully do them justice. Especially Dazz as she tends to get the short end of the stick by her OWN people. Who knows? Maybe a team up with a certain General might occur.

I see .
I am confident that your story will do justice to the characters ( quite unlike the shabby way they are being treated in their "Official Universe "- Allison especially)
What you suggest for a team up sounds interesting- to say the least ( My mind is already sketching out possibilities)
But I would want and need to tale care of my own "Ordeal Project first Keen to see your next installment

Yeah... It's kinda sad how Marvel can't find anything to do with one of the most versatile X-Men whose powers and talents can greatly affect the world around her (Dazzler) but find shitloads of stuff to do with a short, angry sociopath whose power and skill sets affect mostly just himself and anybody within arms length (Wolverine)

I agree entirely I think you observations are very thoughtful and perceptive.
I will go a little further and say that it is a sad thing for the fans and readers and all the would be fans and potential readers out there that characters are handled and presented in the way we currently see them.
I put it down to a lack of imagination and mental laziness and "blinkered thinking" on the part of the creative teams
Plus a general acquiescence on the part of the management to the broader corporate game plan and mind set .Comics exist to keep the characters warm while to movies, which generate the toys and allied material are made . Thats where the real money is and that is what is important The characters and the comic books and the stories they tell do not matter all that much to that big picture.
So I think we are fortunate the have writers like Dreamer -Dave who tell the stories that respect the characters and do justice to them.

That sums up my feelings for both the series by that name and The X-Men franchise as a whole. Way too much of one guy. Even Superman doesn't overshadow the rest of the Justice League the way Wolverine has done the X-Men.
And I kinda make Dazzler one of the main characters of "Xavier's School"

I think it has long been Marvel's( Mistaken) policy to " max out " on a popular character in order to increase sales They did the same with the Punisher as I recall. . The thinking being that a fan will buy anything that features his or hers fave character .
I think this shows a contempt for the fan and the buyer and the and a misunderstanding of the market place.
And sadly a lack of understanding and appreciation of the character. More stories do not mean better stories . Creating art and story is not the same as selling beer ( Back then selling beer is the metaphor and the model that was touted as the way to success "Wolverine is a brand - if you make more you will sell more".
I agree with you about Daz and Xavier's school.
