Description
This is a REAL photograph of REAL mud in Iceland. It is NOT a photo-manipulation or 3D render.Macabre patterns are formed as volcanic mud bubbles up to the surface in Iceland.
Huge single bubbles were growing and bursting in a volcanic mud pool. The bubbles grew to about 18in (45cm) in diameter then burst suddenly and the heavy mud collapsed in on itself. This image shows the instant of collapse, just a tiny fraction of a second, but incredibly complex shapes are formed as the surface of the bubble breaks up.

So many pieces of beauty in this, so many shapes we could find, yet it only exists long enough for us to even realize it's there when it's put in a photograph.

So very, very cool. It's a perfect capture os something that happens too fast for most of us to see, which is why so many people mistake it for something other than a true photograph. This is truly awesome.

wow, amazing !
I live in Iceland but I haven't been near the volcano because I live kinda far from it and we can't travel much because I have school and my parent have work ... but I've seen so many great pictures from it and it sucks not being able to go there, especially when I live in Iceland x.x
you are amazing

Amazing! I love that it's a moment of destruction & collapse, and it looks like the inner anatomical structure of something: like there are skulls and bones, or as you put it 'macabre.' Beautiful shot, well done! (And a well deserved DD)
