Description
"YES, IT"S FROM THE MOVIE EVERYONE"!!!!Foam latex suit pieces sculpted for the "Rinzler" character.Worked with friend Steve Kotch on this suit sculpt.
Doing hard surface-very symmetrical sculpting on a not so symmetrical body form was quite a challenge.

WOw I became a theater costume and props major after seeing this movie. I love making things and I want o be able to create things as epic as this. I have always been in awe of the costumes from tron, they blew my mind that it was all real the budget on this movie must have been threw the roof.

The budget for the costumes was actually lower than usual considering the amount of work our crew did and the little amount of time we had to do them in. Disney is cheap when it comes to making movies, they practically want everything done for free. Not a big fan of working for Disney.

Wow, you would never be able to tell by just seeing the movie. Your work is amazing, its all the costumes and effects that got me into theater, Ive always been fascinated at how we can transform a person into a completely different creature. Unfortunately my college dose not do things that require building the sorts of costumes I want to make, so I just make puppets. Do have any advice on how I would be able to branch out into this sort of costumes and effects in the future.

Get a portfolio together and look up the costumer's union. Internships are usually the best way to get started. I don't work for that union so I'm not sure how they do things.

Impeccable work, my friend, did you sculpt the suit on a mannequin of the actor's body with clay? I would think that is the method that you used, but I am curious to know I believe you when you say it is difficult to get symmetry a human body, which can be quite asymmetrical. Keep up the good work! This is an inspiration to aspiring prop and costume makers.

This is impressive work! Loved this costume. Great job bringing a flat 2d image into a physical wearable 3d suit. Did you make the helmet too or was that Iron Head studio?

That was Iron Head that made all the helmets and Quantum did all the suits.

I've been asked that many times before and there's so much involved in making one of these suits and so many departments working on it that it would be a huge effort to do a tutorial. I just have too many things going on to do something like that, but thank you for the interest.

Looks nice. Looks like it would make a good biker outfit. What are the boots made of? They look like rubber socks.

Really fantastic work. I can't imagine how difficult and time-consuming that would be, despite having a team working with you. I only recently saw both "Tron" and "Tron: Legacy" (my bad). I was shocked to find this posted on dA. Thank you so much for sharing!
I'll be checking out the rest of your profile, now.

Was there a zipper in the back for the actor to enter through? Smilar to a wetsuit?

Zippers were on the sides under the arms.
