Looking at it from this perspective, this shows even more how much of a pathetic piece of trash Duras and his family were in TNG, thinking he could bring the Klingon-Romulan alliance back, ignoring the warnings of his fellow Klingons 'Brother Duras, you are just asking to be stabbed in the back at the worst possible time. The Romulans stabbed us ALL in the back a century ago, their alliance was purely to steal our technical knowlege. The Federation on the other hand, despite their pacifist tendencies, have always upheld their oaths to us and shown themselves very honorable since we made peace with them.'

Funny thing is that I was reading an article about star trek "canon" The much believed alliance between the Roms and Klingons is not canon. Scotty says they are "using" Klingon designs. Im not trying to stir it up just speculating...they could have stolen them, the design or the ships. Same thing for the Klingon BoP. Not Romulan at all. Just thought u might be interested. But then again some of th best Trek out there is non canon.

Have you read, the recent IDW miniseries, Star Trek, Romulans: The Hollow Crown?
It's done by comics veteran and lower case gawd, John Byrne, and it's the only depiction I know of concerning the oft mentioned, albeit short-lived Klingon/Romulan alliance.
I highly recommend it. In fact I recommend all of IDW's Star Trek titles and miniseries. So far, they're doing the best job with the comic book end of the franchise that I've seen to date.
