The one thing which made DS9 so special was how it dealt more with interpersonal personal relationships rather than hopping from one planet to the next. This opened the doors to a much more mature show.
Haters of the show couldn't stand it because there was too much politics, but isn't that what the Federation is, intergalactic diplomacy?! Either way one looks at it, once the Defiant was introduced along with Michael Dorn being introduced to the cast the whole show became gold. Well at any rate, Deep Space Nine will always rest dear to my heart.

DS9 was a great series. I really like Sisko (especially because he can cook csirkepaprikΓ‘s, a food of my country, Hungary

well my biggest complaint though is how people do not seem to give it a chance

DS9 was my favourite series of all ST (though the animated is fun to watch).. it wasn't so squeeky clean.. more.. real as it were.
