Description Due to popular demand, here she is, arriving at Pandora, all trigger-happy

JimΓ©nez: Standard orbit reached, Captain.

Metlesits: Thank you, Lieutenant. Vasya... VASYA! What are you doing with that Sunbomb?

Nussbaum: I thought it would come handy, Skip.

Metlesits: Drop it, Vasya. That's an order!

Nussbaum: An order's an order.

*whoosh*

*BOOM*

Metlesits: On the floor, dammit! Not the PLANET!

lol I don't think you can accurately describe how you accidently blew up a planet! Great Polaris pic. I love the registry on the hanger deck too, nice touch, reminds me of the Galaxy Class with that

Thank you. It's based on a shot from the movie.

Excellent image, but that Russian nutcase needs to go. I suppose it's all too well that this isn't a Starfleet ship. Wouldn't want such crack-jobs to go out representing Earth. Best to keep them contained.

Hey, Vasya's a capable officer. He just likes to blow up things, that's why he's a tac officer.

Just not liking his casual attitude towards wholesale destruction and mass murder, that's all.

Dude, them blues (the Na'vi) do it with their ponytails! I mean, when they used it to laplink with their horses and dragons, I said, OK. But they do the same thing whet they do the old in-out-in-out. I mean, what's the first version, then? Zoophilia? Doing it the Rumanian way (if she says "BAAAAAA", she's ready!) or what?

I mean, I was mostly left out of all the hype. I don't really watch modern American films. If it's modern, it's German for me (Die Welle, Baader-Meinhof Komplex, Mengele: Nichts als die Wahrheit, etc.). I like old films, mostly Russian ones (Seventeen moments of Spring, etc). If it's American, I'm more the series-junkie type.
For months, I thought that Cameron is making a movie of the cartoon Avatar The Last Airbender (another one I never seen but I have a friend who likes it). So here I go, watch the trailer in TV and I say: WTF, what is this crap? Jungle, blue cat-aliens, duuuude waiiit!
Anyway, yours truly went to the cinema. My best friend really wanted to see it in 3D. The darn thing gave me a headache, I swear I'll never watch 3D movies again. But even in 3D, I felt alienated from the whole thing. The setting and the story both felt campy, the message of the movie just too overtly repeated so it was boring.
Of course, after the movie was finished, we were all ooh and aah. I have to admit, the realization was amazing, this new tech has limitless possibilities. But we have a saying in Hungary: Every wonder lasts for three days.
And yeah, the effect faded. I heard that there were people who succumbed to clinical depression because they couldn't re-adjust to the real world after Pandora. I was again, like, Duuuuuude! It was just a movie! I watched some spoofs on YouTube and had to admit that even the worst of them were ages better than the real thing.
The next week, we went to see Sherlock Holmes. Now that's what I needed. It was realistic, all the mystic plots were revealed to be cleverly disguised deceptions, Watson was finally a capable person (unlike in most versions of the SH franchize but not in the good old USSR series), I could associate myself with the setting (Budapest still looks like that, really), and the movie was about humans!
Yes sir, human beings. I'm sick of this xenomania. Back in the good old days, every alien's plan was to conquer Earth so Humanity busted their asses off the big screen. Now we have these blue folks with their plug-and-play ponytails and James Cameron wants me to associate myself with them. Well, I can't. That doesn't mean I'm siding with the army boys who blew the Na'vi to the next Sunday, their actions cannot be justified. But I can't really shed a tear for the Na'vi, mostly because they too never tried to negotiate.
As for Sulley... Okay, I know love can move mountains (another Hungarian proverb), but still... Falling for an alien? Can he ever understand them? Does he really think that they think and feel and see the world like he does? He's in for a big disappointment. Like in the case of the moviegoer, the effect will wear off and he'll find himself alone on a planet light-years away from Earth, being an outcast, a freak.
Also, a part of me cries Race-traitor. Betraying your race (and I mean the Human race in general, not some Nazi bullshit) is the worst crime in my eyes. Betraying your country? Anytime. No problem there for me. Betraying Mother Earth? Shoot he bastard here and now so I can see it, that's what I said.
So all in all, in Avatar I saw a wonderful CGI show with a (stolen) plot about two groups of idiots who never even tried to negotiate and a guy who left everything behind due to not being able to see the forest from the tree.
