Star Trek for me is TOS. The new series lost much of its character.

TNG is also interesting but from Voyager forward...BLEUUUURRRGHHHHH...

Mr. Spock is my childhood hero...He was super intelligent, much stronger than both humans and klingons and, nowadays, the episodes are written by people who know nothing of the Star Trek universe.

They have managed to murder it in many different ways.

I totally refuse to watch the newer "Enterprise" Series. Vulcans who are raped and weak in some episodes, strong in others...Bahhhh...To hell with all Star trek Blasphemers...Long live TOS.

I became a Trekkie with Voyager. My GF showed it to me and I became a Trekkie in the instant. I liked the character developments in it. I do't really care about sci-fi elements, so the ship and the technology was always secondary from me, mostly only an asthaetic point of view.
After VOY, I watched Enterprise and I like it the best from all Trek series. The human characters are much mor realistic than in all Trek, they are not so sterile like in all other Trek. They can be emotional, ruthless, racist and desperate just like real people. I always like to watch Archer's ponderings when it comes whether to cross certain ethical limits on the Xindi mission.
Than came TOS. I liked it immediately but in many aspects, it is too outdated for me, mostly because it doesn't fit the canon of the other series. But the leading trio is an amazingly good set of characters.
I never really liked TNG. It has a nice ship but the characters are cheap re-issues from the Phase II concept and the captain is weak. Hail gunboat diplomacy!
As for DS9: I have mixed feelings about it. I like it because it shows the darker sides of Trek (the total war, the attempted Stafleet coup d'etat on the Federation), but has too many weak episodes especially in the first three seasons.
So, my ranking coems out like this:
ENT
TOS
VOY
DS9
TNG

You should try the new version of Galactica. An excellent series that may surprise you.

I'm waiting for the 4th series to come out...I've devoured the series completely and if you like realistic characters, you should definitely ckeck it out.

Its a complete reshaping of the 80's series and a very different universe(which is good).

A totally refreshing concept.

I haven't even seen the old one

To tell you the thruth, I am not really interested in sci-fi. I like Trek because of the beautiful ships and the interpersonal relationships. I like more down-to-earth stuff, something more real and with more "meaning".

The new Galactica, then...Trust me...Also,the old series isn't worth much trouble.

Cool pic Dave, I hope Enterprise-E likes it

I love the torpedo weapons pod on the top, looks abit like the one on the Reliant

One question though. Where's the Crusaders warp nacelle(s)?

davemetlesits In reply to TheLastCybertronian [2008-12-27 23:07:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you.

The nacelles are located under the saucer, similar to the Reliant. They do not show up in this angle and lighting...
