This was actually made in my AP art class, I drew everything by hand first, tried using colored pencil on everything to give it a better feel than black&white, then used photoshop trying to smooth everything out. After I had drawn it with pencil, I went over it with an artist pen. Photoshop can be a lifesaver but I dont like using it to do entire pieces. I blurred things that were supposed to be further away to give a sense of realism and distance, also to show how big the mech is. the "dodge" tool was used to put in the glow effects over the existing color in the eyes and chest. of course the lens flair was rendered in with photoshop as well

i don't really use photoshop (i don't actually have Photoshop but i have something called Gimp which, if you've never heard of it, is very similar to Photoshop) i experiment around with it but i've never really used it too much. i like to stick with pencil, pen and markers (and sometimes colored pencils)

yea photoshop is just a bit smarter than gimp, with more tools and stuff. there are some people that use 3d rendering software and maaaan I want one of those lol
