Description
DBZ and all its characters belong to Toei Animation, Funimation, and Akira Toriyama (Who is god of this world).I don't have a huge problem when shows want to put in their writer's view of the world or do any of that other stuff, but don't interrupt the action for it. DBZ touched on Vegeta and Piccalo's pasts once or twice when their was a significant break in the action, that's it.
LEARN FROM THEM, NARUTO, BLEACH, ALL THE YU-GI-OH SERIES, INUYASHA, AND PROBABLY EVERY OTHER ANIME EVER!

Nothing can outrank Dragon Ball Z as my number 1 favorite anime of all time. Naruto is my 2nd and Sprited Away was close to Runner Up even though it's my favorite anime movie along with Akira.

DBZ is practically the best anime. Every other single anime has way to much morality and emotional shit going on. I enjoy seeing action, not talking. And DBZ shows that training is the way to get stronger, not that you instantly have the power. Ppl say its repetitive that it goes from evil villain, fight, evil villain, fight. So what? At least the fans love it. It's an anime you grow up with from childhood. There's many characters to love, awesome battles, some comedy, all the morality u need when Goku protects the ppl he cares about. Naruto is good from the Shippuden episodes, but there is just way to much drama in the seasons when they were kids. Yu-gi-oh repeats to with Tea on friendship and the heart of the cards. No other anime will have the same dedication and love from its fans as Dragon Ball Z.

I have to agree with this. Out of all the animes i watched it can never compare to the awesomeness of DBZ. I mean like all the other animes, it doesn't always glorify the main character. For instance I'm into Bleach right now and trying to read the manga. I mean I like Ichigo and all but seriously he always gets all the credit and ends up defeating every single main bad guy in the serious. The main bad guy Aizen ends up defeating all the Gotei 13 AND the Vizards and is totally invincible, then Ichigo suddenly gains special powers put of nowhere and ends up kicking his ass. Sigh. That's why I love Dbz, especially during the Cell Games, which is an example of what I am talking about. Everyone was expecting Goku to be the one to have some special powers, but then there's the twist. It turns out that Gohan, his son, is the one with the power to defeat Cell. Then when he went all Super Saiyan 2, epic moment. Although it was sad that Goku died, the ending of his finishing move was some badass shit. For being an 11 year old boy, injured and with one arm, he was freakin strong. I'm glad it was Gohan and not Goku (don't get me wrong I love Goku alot) that defeated Cell cuz that shows that Akira values all of his characters and he just didn't put them for show.

The reason why Dragonball Z is considered the best show to have ever come out of Japan isn't because of its easy to follow plot. The reason is, it sticks to formula as opposed to other anime. Lately, shows like Bleach and Naruto and countless other mangas have a tendency to pull plot devices out of their ass that have almost nothing to do with the current story at hand. They keep mixing up their character's designs, trying to explain situations with long drawn out flashbacks and continuously give their characters new abilities without explaining how they were given in the first place, creating so many plot holes that it causes wars within the fandom community of whatever manga these people are following.
A manga like Dragonball Z keeps a consitant tone throughout the entire anime and what I mean by that is, it keeps a steady build without having to draw attention to other aspects using angst. Yes we get it, everyone in the world can relate to feeling lonely and vulnerable at times and people tend to have feelings for others that they never act upon but that doesn't mean you need to base an entire character design around a single emotion to make them relatable. An example of this is, comparing Sakura from Naruto to Krillin from Dragonball. From start to current, Sakura has done two things, cry for Sasuke and cry for Naruto in that order. She's had one shining moment and that was a battle at the very beginning of the Shippuden arc and ever since, hasn't done anything worth mentioning other than reminding the reader and audience how useless she compared to her teammates is or reminding us about how she feels for others and how she can't be of help.
Krillin, from the start he severed as a counterbalance to Goku who most people thought was too boring and predictable, just being naturally strong yet stupid. So instead his personality was created as a darker version of Goku who was selfish, slightly perverted and funny in the sense of screwing up without meaning to screw up such as, having to be reminded he didn't have a nose. In the beginning, he was very useful to the plot, driving it very well but as the story continued, he because less useful and more of a comic relief character but he didn't drown himself in despair for being unable to help, instead he treated it like a joke or it was portrayed like a joke. He didn't dwell on his problems or limitations but took a step back and just acted goofy from the side lines, a more reversed, less angst version of Sakura's growth arc. DBZ characters don't need drama or emotional pain to advance themselves as people and their identities aren't just based around hypocritical emotions. Yes it makes it easy for kids to follow and leaves other shows go way over their heads but let me ask you something, have you ever seen a war between fans about what girl Goku or Gohan should end up with? Have you ever seen a DBZ character sulk so bad that you either got depressed yourself or were brought to tears? I mean of course people will gun for Vegeta and let me say this, Vegeta was Akira's MOST HATED CHARACTER because he was so emo that he couldn't add him to the plot without bringing up his pride.
Story wise, Again DBZ is fairly straight forward. Bad guys are shown, their powers are guessed at, heroes fight and train to become stronger, battle breaks out, everyone is killed or beaten half way to death other than the main villain and main hero. Both fight, hero wins. Yes, straight forward and easy to follow and you know what, tell me, is that really such a bad thing? Are people really that upset when a story they read doesn't make them question what the hell is going on with the plot and what direction its trying to take? Honestly, that's like being pissed off because your GPS took the quickest route to your destination and you complained about not getting lost. The problem with most anime plots today is that, in an attempt to make the plot more interesting, the authors create too many plot holes that causes the fans to argue about what's going on in the plot itself. Go onto a Naruto form site. Countless people complaining about whether or not Naruto has Senju blood in him due to being a distant descendent from Mito who was the husband of Harashima and that's just the tip of the ice berg. Granted, yes I'm a fellow lover of a plot that takes more than 5 brain cells to master and understand but when plot holes are just as easy to find as Rasengans in a Naruto episode, it just gets sad man. And even worst, when the plot skips back and forth, trying to add things into the situation that wasn't even hinted at before. Like Ichigo and the "Fullbring" moment or when we found out his mother was a Quincy and how his father was somehow a soul reaper and all these other Quincies appearing out of no where, somehow able to take the powers of others and god do you see what I'm saying? This shit is bananas and the manga moves so slowly because Tite Kubo is an "Autor" an no that's not misspelled, its a way of saying he so detailed with his work that while only publishing 13-16 pages a week or two, 6-7 of those pages are damn near full body shots of characters grunting or pausing for effect. At least Kishimoto is better in that regard but god damn. Anyways that was just an example of what I was trying to say. DBZ has a VERY straight and predictable, easy to understand plot once you get into the flow and there's nothing wrong with making your plot more interesting and more own to the ideals of human perception but the second you start creating more holes in your plot than swiss cheese while not updating at a quick enough speed to answer these questions within a reasonable time, there's something wrong.
Another thing, DBZ doesn't need an underlining moral value or code. A plot that goes on and on about love, acceptance and friendship is fine, after a while but let me ask you this question, if you've ever watched Yugioh then you know what I'm talking about so believe me when I say this, I don't know a single person who was NOT annoyed by Tea's friendship speeches. Its one thing to have an underlining moral code and ideal on display but when you constantly ram it into our faces it gets so damn annoying. Seriously, watching Naruto and Sakura go so far for a serial killer is beyond natural form of understanding. Seriously, be honest with yourself, how many of you could say if you were in Naruto's shoes, you would be doing the same thing as him? Its one thing to have a friend who wants to murder his family's murderer. Its another when that same friend decides to kill innocent people because his brother died protected those innocent people. All angst aside, here's an example. if a man had an older brother that was in the military, who was sent to another country as a double agent and was killed by people from his country because they didn't know he was a double agent, then the younger brother decided not only to kill the person who assigned this mission to his older brother but then to kill every man, woman, and child who didn't even know about it, who don't even fight? and then laugh about it while monologist the situation? You wouldn't call that a friend you'd call that a psychopath and no amount of love or understanding would change that fact that as a human, to go out and desire to take the lives of innocent people makes you an relatable character or even one that can be understood so to have a character give up everything for someone this crazy makes them even less relatable as overall characters and pushes such ideas to the point where most people would call that "brain damage" in the real world. I mean seriously. All in all, DBZ is the most well liked by the majority of anime watchers in the world and while I could keep arguing this point until the day I die, the fact of the matter is, most people will have their own opinions on such subjects and they won't change their minds which isn't bad, just makes those types of people different. But again, DBZ is the best anime and this is proven with a poll taken by the general public so that fact alone can't be argued with, but at the same time, its understandable why some people don't like it. These are the same people who find japanese manga and anime about a 14 year old girl who looks to be 19 standing on a subway train wearing a skirt smaller than hr panties being raped by tentacles while uttering out loud, every aspect of her rape as its going on

Its not about opinion, its about a majority vote and out of the world, Dragonball Z is ranked the best anime to have ever come out of Japan and Goku is the most well received and most liked anime hero. If naming such reasons as to why this is true offends you then oh freaking well. Everyone has their opinion, this much is true but it is stated fact that DBZ is the most well liked anime in the world, don't believe me, look it up. Also, my "attacks" on Naruto, were stating comparisons. I actually enjoy the show and while the fight scenes are less entertaining to me and the plot could use some work, Naruto is far better than DBZ at plot devices and character build which is the reason why I like it. If you're upset because you felt I "attacked" a show you like, boo-hoo. As you said, its "just opinions" and if my opinion didn't overpower yours, you wouldn't have felt the need to try and tell me so

what wiki said: Masashi Kishimoto states in his manga Naruto that he was influenced by Toriyama, as he has always admired Toriyama's works. Kishimoto included a picture of Arale he drew in elementary school. Small references to Dragon Ball are also occasionally made in Naruto; such as manga episode 150 "Start of the training", on page 7, Chiaotzu's "mask" can be found between other masks for sale in a store. Also, in Naruto, the name of the 4th tailed beast is Son GokΕ«, which is also the name of the main character of Dragon Ball. To further the connection, its last host was named Roshi, which could be a nod to Muten RΕshi.
Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, stated in an interview that he was a big fan of Dragon Ball. He stated that it was Toriyama that influenced him and that he holds Dragon Ball in high-esteem. Toriyama is a self-professed fan of One Piece, which he was introduced to by his children. Both artists ended up creating the collaboration manga Cross Epoch featuring both Dragon Ball and One Piece characters.

Here we have Bulma and Yamcha, then Bulma and Vageta (She's begining to sound like a slut), then Gohan and Mr. Satan's daughter, and then we have the whole BS of Mr. Satan imagining himself to be the strongest Human fighter on Earth. Then you have Picollo's past on Nemik kinda bugging him and his counterpart.
All the shit is there, but its backstory and put aside for the main plot, like most shows should do.
