DBZ and all its characters belong to Toei Animation, Funimation, and Akira Toriyama (Who is god of this world).I don't have a huge problem when shows want to put in their writer's view of the world or do any of that other stuff, but don't interrupt the action for it. DBZ touched on Vegeta and Piccalo's pasts once or twice when their was a significant break in the action, that's it.
LEARN FROM THEM, NARUTO, BLEACH, ALL THE YU-GI-OH SERIES, INUYASHA, AND PROBABLY EVERY OTHER ANIME EVER!

Agreed and sorry for being rude I come across links in other sites I'm on that sometimes you don't know what the link is to other then the person putting funny pic here. I also tend to get a fairly rant mood on overated anime. I do kinda like dbz but its just small chunks of dbz anime,namely Future Trunks and Majin[sp?] Vegeta chunks and the movies I enjoy the movies

heres a very good anime with little backstory or drama Gurren Lagann for in the last two or three eps and end of the second movie would destroy Dbz as in Gurren Lagann there was planets thrown at a group that lived another was smashing two galaxies together for a attack proof first one to show them literally by the force of two colliding attacks suck the universe up[albeit a pocket dimension's universe but still] [link]

Which is why I shun most of the world of animΓ© in favor of most classic American cartoons. No intracate plots, no deep meaning (OK, maybe a moral or two), just good, clean fun. I CANNOT TOLERATE shows in which the story (or backstory) seems to go on unresolved forever...

It depends on what anime you watch theres good ones that finished the hole back story within 20-30 eps and its finished for the most part before the end. I know ones that are good,its just the fact ones like dbz and bleach are so mainstream most people don't think of anime being more then just'' head bashing'' or ''no plot'' to them I hate how people shun a genre just for the fact most you see on a normal base isn't good.
I can also point out a few cartoons fitting in a sub category were they can be classed as anime for the sub genre''anime influenced animation''

Geez, that was a long time ago.
But, yeah, it's a very strange double standard. Most of the classics from American animation were just good, clean fun, and yet animΓ© is bashed when it's pretty much the same thing, just a little edgier. Sadly, this keeps the truly awe-inspiring ones, the ones that really make you think out of the limelight, because most people dismiss animΓ© on the whole as being tasteless. That's why I said almost all animΓ©... I've been impressed by quite a few series, and I'm certain there are more out there like them.
And on a side note, I try to steer clear, for the most part, from animΓ©-inspired animation, unless it's really remarkable, since it can be rather obvious they're rip-offs. That's why I said "classic" American animation... The recent ones rub me the wrong way.

I can say Danny phantom,Static Shock and Gargoyles the animated series are for sure not rip offs, Megas Xlr and Samurai Jack yes and no
Thundercats is another animΓ©-inspired animation never noted it was till a such was done same with the others listed above[aside from Samurai Jack] seeing as there styles way way to little anime traits to them you can hardly tell.
Now heres two thats clearly rip off's which is Avatar the last airbender and Code Lyoko as they was loaded with anime looks and such you could be easily fooled.
But I stick with the old cartoons like Popeye the sailor man,Betty Boop and clear up to the point just before cartoons went downhill,I'm also into alot of anime,albeit I try to keep from the BS ones I can stand to watch the BS ones that are like bleach WHEN I need a good dose of head bashing.
But agreed hole heartily on that post of yours,I guess I just kinda missed a chunk of what you typed seeing as it was kinda late on my end when I posted that one.[Been up all night]

Are you that stupid? Really?! Animes (true Animes, not American animes), were not even allowed to cross into the US until 1987. The first one ever shown in the United States was Akira (one of my favorites). The cartoons you mention: "Popeye the Sailor Man, and Betty Boop" and the like were made during and just after WWII (In the case of Betty Boop, she was pre WWII). They can't even compare to the type stuff Japan was watching. While we were watching Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Betty Boop, Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry, Japan had Astro Boy and several other deep story driven cartoons. Before the 80's, the people in the US wouldn't even consider Japanese animation simply because cartoons are for kids and animes were too serious for kids. Many parents still make the same mistake thinking that something like DBZ (although fun) is for kids. I wouldn't let my kids watch true animes, I would let them watch shit like YuGiOh! and Pokemon until they are 15 years or so (depending on maturity), and then they can get into the better stuff if interested.

For a summery of what I meant
One;when I agreed with the guy who I replied to its that there seems to be alot of shonen(sp?) Anime with alot of the same plot/thing overall among most other animes that make it to the dubbing stage seem to be ''basically the same''atleast what I've seen(have had little time to watch that much anime or cartoons for ages,so I'm not sure about it on how accurate that statement is)
two;Skull bashing animes I have a dislike to most of them most of the time Yet I love most other animes no matter there age A.K.A when they was brought out/made
Three;I was pointing out not all America anime-influenced anime is a rip-off
and Four;Most new cartoons I dislike I prefer more of the older ones overall especially the very old ones,but I like some newer ones aswell.

why do you keep spamming people's posts with the same message? its irrelevant that gurren lagann's giant robots could beat DBZ characters in a fight, in regards to the quality of the series in general though, DBZ was an innovator which inspired many series to this day which is what i was referring to, not something like who could beat who in a fight.
