canon 40d and hoya r72 when I process them I dont get the colour distinction between white on the trees and the blue sky even with the tips you gave me. maybe its just my processing ive tried the million tutorials on here.

I think it might be the Canon 40d - a lot of Canon cameras are not very IR sensitive. You can google something like 'DSLR infrared sensitivy' or similar and find out (theres a lot of blogs etc that discuss stuff like that) If the camera turns out to be IR 'okay' then it may be whitebalance.

thanks i thinks its to do with a IR blocking filter over the sensor only way to fix it is with a conversion or different camera. thanks anyway

So what kind of infrared filter did you use for this one?
I'm also thinking of getting one.. but I'm not sure about which one. Would you recommend a more expensive one or do you think cheap ones are just as good.
And also.. did you use a tripod for this photo? I mean since there's not much light getting into the lens you have to use long exposure times, right? :c

This was done with a Kood R72 filter - The Hoya R72 is without doubt the best but the Kood was less than half the price.
Yes you will have to use a tripod (this shot was 8 secs) and you'll have to compose/focus the shot before you attatch the filter

I had a fairly quick look through your gallery, everything in there that I saw (on the first 6 pages) looked brilliant.
For me though, this one stood out as my strong personal favourite, it's not perfect, but the composition is great, and I love the tones.
I feel that the main feature should be and still is the big tree on the left, though I don't really feel that it pops out of the frame like the one in the middle does, not sure why, but it looks like there's just a bit less detail and light on the left tree. and good luck.
Oh and your avatar is fucking awesome.
