Description
In the comic strip project, JB will be part of an internet video group that creates skits that get shopped into resembling old-school black and white classic cartoons. It's called Chromatown Toons and even the human characters dress up as Toon characters. In the Chromatown Toons, the goal is to create scenes that resemble a 21st century high-tech version of an black and white cartoon world. Although none of the characters can stretch and squish like their 1920s counterparts, they more than make up for it by pratfalls, slapstick, extreme stunts, and a good amount of comedic violence. And the occasional martial art and parkour scene. Nothing too much, usually (inflatable foam) mallets and anvils and staged explosions. The characters will be bounced around. A lot. Even Johnny.
Because of this, the costumes they wear is designed with some protection for the wearer. In this sketch, I created a demo costume of Johnny to show a cutaway of the design.
The zentai suit over the clothes (including the oversized gloves and shoes) is monotoned and has built in padding, elbow pads, knee pads, chest protectors, and padded crouch and rear paddings. They're even protected from crouch shots. But they do act like they were. What is unseen is that the gloves will have some slots for the thumb and two fingers to slide out to grab things. The gloves and shoes are also padded for when they punch and kicks. And with all the padding, they can go full force and not hurt anyone. The chestplate can be molded to suit the figure of the character, including breasts and hips for the female characters.
The heads of the costume is in two pieces. The mask has a hinge over the neck so that the mouth can move. This is where the voice changer is put in. The helmet with the rest of the head contains both a helmet with anti-concussion material and a neck brace. It also has a mike set in the ears and eye holes or see through eyes that the actor can hear others in the suit and evnetually communicate with others in public in character.
Future improvements will include not only a cooling system. (They originally have UnderArmor brand garments underneath the zentai suit, which will include the cool vest in time) and a video screen wired to the eyes so that the actor will have a bigger field of vision and there won't be any holes for the blinking eyes up close.
Any more high tech, and we're talking about HFL.

Well that's pretty neat. ^.^
But then, I love anything that makes people look like toons. <3
Your HFL is pretty high tech but if you wanna go a step even beyond that, have you ever read my short "Terry on Disneymoon"? I wrote it for a Minnie Mouse Transformation Contest, and went full on sci-fi with spaces that are larger on the inside. Actually, I won the contest. Very proud.

Well, what I was gunning for is a method that can be made with the technology we have in the here and now, with no shapeshifting, spacefolding, or personality changing. The tech would be somewhat lower but more realistic ('Harder,' I believe Sci Fi fans would call it.)
By the way Kudos to the contest win.
If you know anyone who's an artist and wouldn't mind working with me on a web comic, please let them know about me.

I'm afraid I don't know any artists who would be interested in joining a project from the start; unless you gave them some incentive, anyways.
Also sorry I keep starting conversations with you and then not continuing for weeks or months, I've been absolutely terrible about that.

(8:02:42 PM) davidfoxfire@ymail.com: The players will be doing a lot of comedic miscief, and even with the props they have to pull no punches. The pranks and the stunks and the fights will all be full force to create the toon-like reactions. The costumes they wear have all this padding as necessity.
(8:03:41 PM) davidfoxfire@ymail.com: Do a Youtube search for "Gaki No Tsukai" and you'll see some of the stunts involved.
(8:04:11 PM) davidfoxfire@ymail.com: Or something out of "Jackass"
(8:10:09 PM) davidfoxfire@ymail.com: Or even "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge," where the Toons take otherwise nasty spills, headshots with falling bedpans and wire-guided falls. Anything that will produce a laugh.
