The composition of this photograph is wonderful. The viewer's eye follows the curves of the trunk and branches through out the piece in a very pleasing way, although it is a little jarring the way the trunk forms a right angle in the bottom right corner. That is no fault of the photographer, however, simply nature's whim and the artist has captured it beautifully. It is reminiscent of some of Ansel Adam's work-- with the crisp definition of the bark and each leaf individualized rather than a blur of grey. Having the image in black and white forces the viewer to simply look at the shapes rather than become distracted by colour. Wonderfully executed.
