Description
To me, this painting defines my male perspective of love. I like to think that she is completing his puzzle by placing the final piece, rather than removing it. Which one I intended is a perpetual question to me. It is much more interesting to me to hear what others take from it.acrylic on canvas

amazing work and concept Affected from our behavior in this modern way of living, I instantly thought that she's removing the piece , because giving unselfishly is something pretty rare and unique today ...

delightful painting. I intuitively thought that she's removing the piece though.

There is no difference in gender except for purely physical things and social pressures of peers and previous generations.

This is not entirely correct. Though there are many social pressures, studies of both the male and female brain show that they work in quiet different ways. Certain areas are larger or smaller than in the other, different chemical makeup and reaction, etc all contribute to the contrast that make us male and female. Though one could argue that this is "physical", it leads to many mental and psychological differences between the sexes.

So your saying that an entire species can be based off the studies of a few specimens? True general things can be accounted for, but over all the way in which one reacts apposed to the other can seen to be quite the same.

The difference between gender has always been noted throughout history, so this is not a new thing, except now there is actual data and fact backing it up. Where did you get your information? Made it up yourself? If so, then that makes it coming from only a random observation from ONE specimen. Thanks for contradicting yourself.

Such an interesting and original idea, the whole picture is just amazing (and it immediately caught my attention between today's DDs). Perhaps it's the pesimist in me, but I instantly saw a break-up in the picture, instead of a completion. Maybe it's because the characters are looking away from each other, as avoiding something unpleasant.

from the first moment i saw this I thought it was the woman that added the piece. then i noticed the uneasy posture of the man. but instead of changing my mind about what's going on here, it enhanced it. the man is uneasy exactly due to the fact she returns that piece. I read recently the book by Jorge Bukai 'to look at love' and still under its influence I interprete this picture like this: in a relationship we reflect one another and after passion has worn out we start see things that annoy us. these things are nothing else but pieces to our own self that we don't want to look at the eyes. that's why the man avoids her gaze and he seems not very eager to accept the piece. note that the woman holds his hand in a way that perhaps implies she holds him in place, although he doesn't want to...

Well. maybe he is willing to let this particular lady to place the final piece. Trusting her not to place a wrong one that would hurt in the future.
Been there, felt that...

Looking at the puzzle pieces made me think that this piece was done digitally. Then I saw that you mentioned it was done with acrylic on canvas. This literally made my jaw drop! And I just love your concept!

Thanks! No, this is all "wet work". I've just started playing around with digital. I doubt I'll ever get as good with it as some of the great work I've seen on DA. The traditional vs digital animosity here at DA is a little silly, both present their own packages of challenge and opportunity. Glad I dropped a draw, though! hehe. thanks!

what it says to me is that you are not complete without the people around you, or in this case the other person's love has completed him. you know the old pun "you complete me". thats what it makkes me think about. it's a work that can be interpreted in mny ways.

I love the simpleness, though it's also very detailed! And the way you made the branches shape into a heart is just one of these tiny little things many won't see, but what make it even a stronger painting! Well done!

awesome. I have been waiting for someone to notice and comment on that. you should check out my painting "somnio de 'before the void'" for some serious hidden pictures. It's a bad reproduction of the original but with a magnifying glass you can see a lot. It is a painting i can promise you will see something new every time you look at it. I read a lot of Highlights as a kid.
