Description
Alright well Red J's been sending swarms of deviants over to my deviantART page, bugging me to post some stuff, and since What If? X-Men Deadly Genesis came out this week (GO BUY 3 COPIES EACH!!! ;D ), I guess I'll kick off with some art from that.
I won't spoil the issue too much, as it only just came out, but basically if you've read the original X-Men Deadly Genesis, you will know that there was another X-Men team before the new Giant Size X-Men team debuted (yeah, yeah... retcon). Obviously the 1.5 team didn't fare so well on their first mission to Krakoa, otherwise Prof X would have had no need to bring in Storm, Wolvie, Colossus, Nightcrawler etc. to form the new X-Men. Anyway our What If?... book deals with what would have happened if the X-Men Deadly Genesis team had survived.
This pencilled spread shows Vulcan, Sway, Petra and Darwin taking on Magneto and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants at Magneto's fortress in Genosha. I don't know if it looks like a fortress or just some industrial area, but I had fun drawing all the detail in this one.

Awesome issue David. (Finally got a copy with the reorders... Initial run was a sell-out up here! ) Really loved the rendering on it too!

McNiven Not really.. but I seem to be getting that a lot lately.
I wasn't entirely happy how the rendering I was using on Panther and Storm were ending up inked and in final print so I switched to a bit more open style. I also tried to go for a little bit of Travis rendering on this project, but not as crazy as his stuff.

The amount of details you put in your pages are astounding, David! Truly amazing stuff!! I was quite in awe when I was flipping through your folio in Sydney recently. Do you ever sell your original art pages?
Anyway, welcome to deviantArt, hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!
