Description
In June 1924, the peoples of Panama, the northernmost province of the Republic of Colombia rose in rebellion against their Colombian overlords. Voicing their intent for independence and sovereignty from both their Colombian overlords and the United States who controlled the wealthiest area in their proposed country -the Panama Canal Zone- under its own control, the Panamians called for international aid. The British Empire formally sided with the Panamians in August 1924, suggesting a diplomatic solution to this problem. The French Empire on the other hand named this as a "violent infringement of the Colombian People's sovereignty and territorial integrity" and took their side four days later. The German Empire -hoping to calm tensions having risen with their neighbor in France- sided with the French Empire, bringing their own diplomatic clout into the French mission to ensure Colombian sovereignty.Russia, France and Germany's natural enemy, joined the British Empire and began calling for Panamian independence, to which the Americans, viewing the New World as their natural sphere of influence, joined France to ensure Colombian territorial integrity. Tensions between these four Great Powers rose throughout the Panama Crisis (1924-26), and came to a boiling point in February 1926. France gave Britain an ultimatum to cease their support for Panama on February 1. Britain refused, and gave a counter-offer to France on February 2 to allow for Panamian independence and to cede their colony of Dahomey, which Britain had coveted for a long time since the Scramble for Africa. When France and Britain both refused each others' offer, war broke out on February 5.
France declared war on Britain. In turn, Britain, Russia and the Netherlands all declared war on France. Germany, Spain and the United States declared war on Britain, to which the Dutch and Danish Empires declared war on Germany and France. All warring parties, excepting Persia who only joined the war in 1927 and due to pressure from Britain to secure its oilfields, fought for the next two years, with fighting ending only in March 30 1928. Upon its conclusion, Germany was forced to cede East Prussia to Russia, Schleswig-Holstein to the Danes and to recognise Austrian sovereignty on Bohemia-Moravia and Banat -the both of whom were later annexed by the Austrians by 1930- and also Dutch sovereignty on Luxembourg. France was forced to cede territory along Picardy and Calais to the Belgians, recognise the independence of Brittany and to cede all their colonies to the Allied Joint Command, being limited only to the Departments of Algeria and the communes of Senegal. Both countries, as well as Spain, would go through violent revolutions, setting the stage for the Second and Third Great Wars in 1931 and 1935.

Yes, this was the result of my latest Victoria II playthrough. No, I didn't include all states involved in the war.
