I've only seen Bill Maher's show on YouTube. I did see Hitchens on there before.

I've been catching a few old favorite movies on HDNet lately (Sid & Nancy, Little Big Man, The Wall) and some cool concerts too (The Pretenders, The Cure and Stray Cats), but I rarely watch TV just to watch.

The only tv I've ever really gotten into was when digital cable was first introduced and all these new digi-channels were available, sans-commercials. I got the Ideas channel, and Discovery Civilization, and the IFC, and I just watched the hell out of all the documentary film and educational programming I could absorb.
I had a business at the time, too, which required me to sit motionless by myself for 14 hours/day, so I was able to watch that much tv.
Regular, mundane television bores the shit out of me. To coin a phrase from Mike, I'd rather suck lint.

Regular television bores the Hell out of me too (who NEEDS reality TV?) and I generally stick to the same channels you like (Discovery, History, Documentary, etc.). I DO have some guilty pleasures like Mythbusters (I love Karie Byron) and MXC though.
