Description Just Wally doing his job!
(Well, one of his regular duties, at least)

Trying something out here...
The weasel was drawn and coloured by hand, but I put him onto a digital background. Hopefully this is one possible approach?

Heya Danbuster, when I saw this picture here, I had to give you a more in-depth review, although I regret I should've done this awhile ago though. But anyhow, here I go here!

Vision) Mixing both traditional and digital works isn't something out of the ordinary and some people have done it before (like "Son of Zorn" for example) but Im very happy to see you tried to take a stab at doing this here with Wally here. I can see he's in motion and serving a guest something underneath that...thing, which I don't know the name of.

Originality) Well as I said, mixing traditional and digital works has been done before but I liked how you gave it a whirl here.

Technique) This is probably where the weakness kind of comes in here, looking at the pic of Wally here, it just feels like Wally was just placed in the background like a sticker then a piece of the background alone. I would've probably thrown in some shadows and planned where the light is gonna shine down him BEFORE placing him in the background. Despite the shadow behind his feet and body, it feels "flat" and otherwise as I described.

Overall Impact) Im giving this picture 3 and a half stars out of 5. Although it's pretty cool you still do traditional colors and whatnot, I still see a lot of white lines in Wally's fur and the way how he carries himself feels like he's gonna lean too far foreword and topple over then giving him a straight kind of poise in his pose. I could understand he's leaning in a little as he walks but he feels like he's leaning too far forewords to be walking with dignity here.

But I trust this is just practice here, I like the direction you're going here and I wish you lots of luck in the future.

Heh, thanks Alex!
Certainly tried to show him doing his official work as Retsy's valet/butler whatever... though the whole "leaning forward" thing was part of the bendy pipecleaner body that skinny little weasels have...
Don't know how you claim you can see white bits in his fur though, because I made sure to colour him in thoroughly even allowing for the streaky nature of colour pencils. Though I will admit, if I had spent a little more time on the background, I could have just digitally sketched a background that would fit in more with the traditional style than the too-flat-and-solid style of a vector-drawn background.

Heh, thanks very much!
Just to remind me, what sort of fur design were you thinking of there?

LittleFoxPrince In reply to DCLeadboot [2017-06-01 09:55:18 +0000 UTC]

No problem! <3Β and what i meant was where his white patch of fur is around his mouth and muzzle area down to his neck chest & crotch

DCLeadboot In reply to LittleFoxPrince [2017-06-01 14:36:15 +0000 UTC]

That tends to be the usual with them all, having a lighter underside...
That and the crotch fur is bushy enough to provide a natural modesty-cover!

well good thing he has all that fluffyness! xD So with out the oversize fluff and bushyness cover, will they look like mine??? xDΒ dumb fox, sly bunny

Well, I can't seem to find examples at quick notice, but I don't really show such detail. If for some reason they did the spits, the fur/skin of their inner thighs sort of stretches to meet the join...

Sorry, I meant doing the splits, like your fox was doing in that picture... my phone's auto-correct...

Retsubnad: I'm sure great servants can be found, of course... but at least they're not necessarily over-affectionate or clingy...

Looking as eager as ever. Nicely done with the traditional on digital background here as well, it's a nice contrast.

Something to Retsy's own tastes, of course... maybe even a braised haddock or something?
(I should think that even herbivorous hares might enjoy the occasional fish?)

Thanks very much for commenting!
I was wondering if anybody would notice this, after nothing but fave-bombs all afternoon...
