Description
Looking to possible future storylines in the adventures of the Dan Clan, I was thinking about the legendary Isle of Dragons – a hidden island somewhere in the great sea, where dragons and other "extinct" species of the world survive away from the reach or interference of humans.
Of course, keeping this island hidden is very important for the continued security of the dragons and their resident companions. To this end, the dragons have their own special team dedicated to the defence of their home. These are the Elemental Guardians!

Reading off clockwise from the centre:
Pyrrhus (PĬR-uss, Greek meaning "fiery/red") — a classical Western European fire dragon. Big and burly and traditional, he's the natural leader of the group, despite being hot-headed and impulsive. However, his fiery temper is offset by a warm friendly nature deep down.
Jökull (YO-kutl, Icelandic meaning "glacier") — an ice dragon hailing from northern Iceland. Slim but strong, seemingly cold, hard and unemotional, but solidly frozen in his dedication to the cause. His calculated coolness helps to keep the team grounded. (Note: As near as I can get with the pronunciation, but the Icelandic language looks like quite a tongue-twister!)
Fēng-Lóng (风龙, Chinese meaning "wind dragon") — an Eastern wind dragon. The oldest and wisest of the group, the Chinese-born dragon offers wisdom to his fellows. At one with the wind, he goes with the flow and is calm in a crisis.
Catatumbo (Ca-ta-TOOM-bo, Barí meaning "house of thunder") — a Venezuelan lightning dragon, originating from the stormy regions near Lake Maracaibo. The youngest dragon of the group, he is thin, lanky and streamlined, and literally crackling with youthful energy.
Kailani (Ky-LA-nee, Hawaiian meaning "sea and sky") — a female sea dragon from the Central Pacific. A force of nature, she is mostly calm and tranquil, but capable of kicking up a storm when pushed. Like the sea, she can be unpredictable.

These five work together to prevent the discovery of their island. Since dragons must keep a low profile to keep humans from hunting them down, they avoid revealing themselves openly as far as possible. As soon as a ship is sighted as coming too close for comfort, they employ a cunning but none-too-subtle method.
Kailani provides a plentiful supply of water, shooting a strong jet skyward. Pyrrhus then flames the water in the air, evaporating it, whilst Jökull follows up behind to turn condense the steam into heavy rainclouds. As Feng-Long provides the wind to send the clouds out to sea, Catatumbo charges them with lightning, triggering a squall. The presence of such unexpected weather is typically enough to warn the ship to change its course, and thus avoid coming in sight of the dragons' island.
