Description
Random piece of fan-art, inspired by the similarities I see between a brawling Werehog Sonic and an athletic Rayman. Both characters also had the ability to throw their fists at their enemies - Rayman by virtue of having no limbs, and through WereSonic having those unexplained stretchy arms!
Here they tackle some sort of obstacle by swinging over it by means of those glowing horizontal bars and helpful flying lums.
Sonic the Werehog is from Sonic Unleashed, Copyright © Sonic Team
Rayman also appears by courtesy of his own series, as he appears in Rayman Origins, Copyright © Ubisoft
Drawn by hand.
Vectorised and coloured in Adobe Flash.
Rayman: Imetay otay avesay ethay orldway!
WereSonic: Whatever the hell that means!

Thanks very much!
Well, in Rayman Origins, they all speak some sort of Pig-Latin. Basically, Rayman's statement here means "Time to save the world!"

No prob.
Pig-latin? Seriously? Wow. I need to learn Pig-latin now. xD

Ixnay...
Well, I understand it's just taking the first bit of a word and sticking it on the end, and adding an "ay"
So Rayman get's called Ayman-ray by his friends!

Enigma-Nyx In reply to DCLeadboot [2012-07-27 13:12:14 +0000 UTC]
Oooooh....... Okay! xD So the first letter of the word goes on the end... Then you add "ay" at the end of every word? Wow.
So "Cat" would be "Atcay"? xD

DCLeadboot In reply to Enigma-Nyx [2012-07-27 14:33:25 +0000 UTC]
Yup...
Of course, if the first letter is a vowel, you don't bother misplacing the letter - just put a "hay" at the end of it!

Lol "hay"? Did you accidentally put that h there? xD
But I think I'm figuring out the language. xD It's wacky language...

Yeah, very wacky!
Listening to some of the characters talking in the game also helped me work some of it out.

Part of the fun! I also love the bizarre music - especially "Dark Toon Chase" (the action theme in Jibberish Jungle, with the jaw-harp and percussion) and "Steam Punk Suspense" (the Moody Clouds music with the hammer dulcimer and gear-wheels)

Heheh nice! I see Werehog as more of a re-Ristar though, Ristar is an older SEGA character who is known for having stretchy arms and with the exception of combat, his gameplay style is identical to Werehog's, coincidently Ristar was also based on one of Sonic's prototype designs - a rabbit with stretchy ears!

Heheh okay, Werehog gets to use several of Ristar's signature moves, such as swinging on a flying enemy to hitch a ride or swinging on a pole (Wii/PS2 version) but he is overall more agile.

1. add two backgrounds: one from sonic unleashed and a one from any of the rayman games
2. sonic looks pissed
3. that blue thing does not have a hat
4. put more work into rayman's shoes
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DCLeadboot In reply to SkullwingsSeventh [2012-04-06 08:26:13 +0000 UTC]
1. I guess some sort of background might have been in order, if I took more time on this - Jibberish Jungle or something... but there were other things I was wanting to get back on. This was just a side project.
2. I had intended him to be attempting a smile here.
3. I think you'll find the Swingman from Rayman Origins has a hat. [link]
4. I was working with the Origins style, so the appearance is much simplified.

I suppose Rayman has an advantage over obstacles as he has no limbs, so he could reach a high shelf without using a ladder XD. And It is a unique idea for Sonic to have the powers of a Werehog & Stretch Armstrong.
Funnily enough there is a comic/Manga of this pirate boy who gets arm-stretching powers when he ate a 'devils fruit' that gives people amazing abilities.
Heh that Flying Lum looks funny.
Great job mate.

Yeah, it's odd that Rayman never used his limblessness for reaching high places...
WereSonic had to pick the ball up on that one!
That wasn't some guy from the One Piece series Hyrit told me about in the past?
Yeah, the whole place is a bizarre world in Rayman Origins. Guess that comes from living in a place dreamed up by the Bubble Dreamer. I don't what's in his pipe besides bubbles, but... is he stoned?

Yeah i was referring to Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, it is like Rayman with colourful & bizarre locations & people with personality & abilities..but with pirates.
as its called 'Rayman Origins' I am wondering if its set before or after Rayman 1 or its some sort of remake.

It turns out Rayman Origins became a kind of sequel tying together elements from the other games - Betilla the Fairy-Nymph returns with a sexy upgrade and a number of bodacious sisters; the levels and 2D-sidescroller recall the original game; Mr Dark is alluded to, it appears; also Globox and the Teensies join you, and you can collect Lums for bonuses.
In fact, you can switch characters (if you have enough Electoons to unlock them) and there's a fully-functional multiplayer interface.

I always tought Werehog Sonic was a nod to Sega's own Ristar, tough Rayman also works, now you mention it yeah.
Makes me wish Werehog Sonic played more like Rayman 2.
