Description I am not a fan of epilogues that essentially tells you that all you went through (game or book or movie, whatever) is being retold by someone. And it's frequently someone old telling the story to someone young, which tends to add another element of inappropriateness to the whole scenario. It often clashes horribly with the actual story - as it did in ME3.
All I could think when I got to that part was 'really? Is the stargazer telling his grandchild about *everything* Shepard ever did? Even the bit where she wandered into the men's bathroom for the eight time?' That's just bad story telling, grandpa :I

Champions and Heroes is a collaboration with the fabulous and can also be found here championsandheroes.smackjeeves… and on tumblr championsandheroes.tumblr.com/

I didn't get that impression, especially since it didn't start as a story being told. To me, what happened in game is 'history' and the two at the end are just talking about legends. Legends which may have nothing to do with the original, as legends usually don't.

Well, yes, but I feel that it implies that the 'another story about the Shepard' is a DLC content that they add afterwards (Leviathan, Omega, whatever) which in turn implies that it has all been retold :I

Socially awkward Shepard. Can save the galaxy, but has a real hard time with social interactions.

"A lot has been lost over time, but we believe that calibrations were a sort of prayer for the turians. And so the Shepard respected his religious practices and went on her way, trying to find someone on her ship that wanted to talk to her. Again."

As an aside, do you happen to know who the Stargazer was? Because story mechanics aside, that was kind of a cool little tidbit.

No idea who he is supposed to be in game (judging by the moons, I'd say a descendant of the Normandy staff survivors, if one ignores the extended cut and whatnot), but I know that Buzz Aldrin voiced him. Which is cool indeed.

I got that sense too. What made it worse was when they did the extra dlc and you had the option of doing nothing on the catalyst and just walking away.

They gave me the option of making the entire galaxy completely meaningless. BUT... It's a choice now. So yay.

"Let me tell you the tale of the Shepard, son. She just couldn't be arsed to pick a colour, so we're pretty much boned in a few centuries."

Yeah... there are a lot of things I wish they would have done differently about ME3, and most of them are about the ending. The extended cut DLC... well... I wanted an option that allowed you to fail. Sadly, I didn't even get to fail properly with the extended cut - Shepard is still remembered as a hero. Somehow :I

I didnt want to walk that 30 minute irritating hallway on the citadel to check the other endings.

Not bein arsed to choose a colour is pretty much my legacy.

I did it by accident (I shot the stupid hologram kid just out of curiosity, and even though if I had shot the big conduit thingee instead I would have destroyed him, he got all pissy about me shooting the hologram which was utterly meaningless). Anyway, the Reapers kill everyone, and then you get a cut scene of Liara's time capsules warning the next cycle of what would happen. The thing under the stars at the end is different too, you get a woman talking to a little girl (who's heads look somewhat Asari) telling how thanks to the warning - and The Shepard - they were able to stop the Reapers.

So you did technically fail, Earth is harvested, Thessia, Palaven, Tchuchanka, etc., etc. But thanks to Liara, the next cycle can get it right. And somehow Shepard gets the credit instead of Liara...

Make of that what you will.
