This came out amazing!
But, I'm just a little confused about some things.
What did the back of the mask look like?
I can't seem to figure out where the beanie is..

Am I supposed to tuck the plain plastic mask under the beanie on the balloon?
Or put it on top of the edge of the beanie and tape it together?

And how does it stay on your head?

And ONE more question.. Did you make the hat yourself?

The beanie, I made it go under the hat and then tapped them together like hell. I guess however it will fit your face best. As for the hat [link] Hope it helps!

Im loving this tutorial and i made a proto-type out of tape yesterday. Im looking at pictures of nurses though and like... from their chin and on an angle under their ears is all weirdly covered too. did you do that as well and if so how? I cant tell from the picture~

I just paper mached around the whole head and got as close to my neck as I could, which wasnt very far XD But yeah I covered the ears.

Thank you sooooo much! I have been stressing out thinking how I was going to make the mask for Halloween this year. =] I'm going to try this and I'll let you know how it comes out. Hopefully I can do it... haven't used paper mache' in a loooong time.

another silly question... is the back paper macheted, too? or just the front... i'm working on my mask now and i'm having a somewhat tough time getting it on and off just being taped.. i can't imagine what having it paper macheted would do.

Most of the top is paper mache but the bottom is not that much, use less stuff near the bottom it makes life easier

just a question (and this is a great tutorial, btw) what do you do for the bottom half of the head in the back? do you just stretch the beanie to fit that far down and tape everything like that? coz thats the only thing i'm confused about.

thanks for your help

<3

DDRshaman38 In reply to killerkiwi420 [2008-10-22 01:53:48 +0000 UTC]

well I try to cover as much as possible with paper mache with the hat able to get on and off my head. I did have a little beanie sticking out but not that much. I spray painted that and it looked pretty gross so I kept it that way. You can see a little bit of hair line on mine.

Schizotherapist In reply to ??? [2008-10-21 23:07:22 +0000 UTC]

one last question! How did you hide your hair, and what did you do for the back so that it covered up the rest of the back of your head? Anymore specifics would really be cool too. Thanks a bunch :]

DDRshaman38 In reply to Schizotherapist [2008-10-21 23:59:51 +0000 UTC]

I used a this bathing cap I had left over from wrestling in High School. Its not the rubbery one though x_X Its made out of cloth soooo much comfortable, Im sure you could find it wherever they sell swimming gear. But I suppose you could use just a hairnet too. Uhhh The back of my head... the top was still covered with paper mache and stuff and I sprayed the beanie I had so it looked kind of gross XD But you could still see some of my hairline, not horribly though. Hope this helps

Mechy-Chan In reply to ??? [2008-10-19 06:04:36 +0000 UTC]

Okay, my cousin, a friend and I made the masks no problem at all. Came out amazing. HOWEVER, we are having such an issue trying to construct the hats. We've tried using patterns we found on the net but they look weird on the head. 0.o

Could you give a sort of "fool proof" and "dumb-ass" description of how you made the hat. Pretttty please. ^__^;

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DDRshaman38 In reply to Mechy-Chan [2008-10-19 06:15:36 +0000 UTC]

Okie Dokie lets seeeee
I made the hat in two parts (the top part; which is like a weird triangle except with a square surface instead of a point. the bottom part; which is a really long rectangle folded in half) than I used this weird styrafoam-like paper I got from wallmart for 50 cents in the crafts section. THEN after that I took the left over material from my dress and wrapped the hat pieces in em. THEN ya glue God I hope that made sense! Note me or anything if your'e having trouble! Good Luck!

Just wondering how you made/where you bought your nurses cap. I've been searching for one for quite some time now. Great tut btw.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DDRshaman38 In reply to Sintakz [2008-10-14 16:43:04 +0000 UTC]

When I bought my nurse dress from goodwill it originally went all the way down to my ankels so I used the extra material, I cut off, for the hat and to make it stand up I used styro-foam-like paper I got at walmart for 50 cents. Hope that helped!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sintakz In reply to DDRshaman38 [2008-10-15 04:09:07 +0000 UTC]

So did you basically just shape the styro-foam-like paper into a general nurses cap shape and then drape the fabric over it then sew shut? I've been trying to make one for a while now and it seems your idea is the best thus far.

DDRshaman38 In reply to Sintakz [2008-10-15 04:14:22 +0000 UTC]
