Thank you so much! This seems so much easier to make than other tutorials! Also, what types of paint did you use to color the mask? I'm not much of a painter or artist, so I don't know if a certain type of paint is prefered. Thank you again! I cannot wait to get started!

The types of paint I used were Krylon spray paint and acrylic paints (red, brown, black) I had lying around Hope that helps

Bravo! This was exactly what I was looking for. I've sorted my outfit, (the hat is a bit off, due to a big red + ruining my fun, but since i'm going to a halloween party where "Silent Hill" might have evaded the ravers, i need all the "nursey" accessories ) but the mask was a grey area for me. Thanks so much!!

The original mask base -- did you cut any of it? Like the bottom part, chin or under the mouth?

I have a mask for mine, but I'm not sure what's best..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DDRshaman38 In reply to inu07 [2009-08-30 03:45:35 +0000 UTC]

From what I can remember Im pretty sure I didnt cut anything. The mask fit me fine and was comfortable. I suppose once youre done with the paper mache you can still trim the sides if you need to

inu07 In reply to DDRshaman38 [2009-08-30 04:32:59 +0000 UTC]

Did your mask cover your whole chin though?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DDRshaman38 In reply to inu07 [2009-08-30 15:18:08 +0000 UTC]

Nope. It cover just the front of it

inu07 In reply to DDRshaman38 [2009-08-30 15:24:47 +0000 UTC]

Aha. lol I'm gonna need to cut mine then.
This is my first time making my own Halloween costume, so I'm trying not to stray too far from tutorials when it comes to the basic things.

wut kind of fabric did u make the hat out of so it would stay up and stiff??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DDRshaman38 In reply to xxSOLAxx [2009-05-28 10:22:55 +0000 UTC]

I used paper foam which you can get at walmart for like 50 cents and then I covered it in left over fabric I had from my dress

Very helpful tutorial i just started making this the split second i found this.
Except im using a cut up paper plate for the mask LOL.
I think it'll be fine once i fix the jaw line for it and make it stiff with newspaper.
Im guessing i should make this a little bit below the jaw line and where my hair starts at the bottom to make it easy to get on and off

Uhm, okay, so I'm making mine right now...right?~

And I'm only at the stage where you tape them together. Is there a certain reason why the whole beanie and mask is covered?

Do you have two eye holes or one?

Is it okay to use any type of heavy duty tape?

Thanks. <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DDRshaman38 In reply to ExpoChan [2009-01-27 00:03:11 +0000 UTC]

I just tapped the hell out of it to make sure nothing would fall apart Also the tape could protect the mask from the paper mache, so it wont get soggy and gross (depending if your mask is cardboard or not, mine was) I had 2 eyeholes but after applying everything I could see fully out of one and had about half the vision on the other. I would guess any type of tape would do

ExpoChan In reply to DDRshaman38 [2009-01-27 00:22:06 +0000 UTC]

Oooh. Yeah, mine wasn't cardboard and I was liek whuuuuut.

Moar questions naow then. :U

Did you make the eyeholes before or after paper mache was put on? Or did you make the paper mache around the eyes holes?
