Description
This is a painting of a recurring nightmare I have- looking out at Boston and seeing an atomic bomb going off. This was done in artrage2 and photoshop, total time on this one was about an hour. This was based off an earlier piece I did sometime last year. The skyline is Boston as seen from the Cambridge side of the Charles river, near MIT.Landscapes and scenery probably isn't the best fit for this pic, but I'm not sure where to put it.

I really like how you managed to make something digital look like a tradtional painting. It's cool. Good effect with the mushroom cloud too, that's hard to pull off.

Most of the paint-like stuff was done in artrage2 free edition, I just did some color changes and some blurring in Photoshop 7. ArtRage is a pretty awesome little program, it's sort of like a stripped down version of Corel Painter, and they have an almost fully functional free version, here's a link to their site [link] You can do cool paintings in photoshop, too, it just takes longer.

Yep, that show probably had an influence on this one. Good show, Heroes.

Aw, man. I kinda liked that place. When you've described that dream to me, I've always pictured the event from the top of Waitt's Mount. Good stuff--scary.

Yeah, that was pretty insane. I turn on the TV at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon and it's all over the news that 'suspicious packages' were being found all over the city, and they were showing footage of people being evacuated out of the subways. I'll take Mooninites over nuclear bombs anyday, heheh

Thanks! I have the nightmare much less often than when I was a kid, but every once in a while - Bam! It still freaks me out. Growing up in the 80's, knowing that there were thousands of missiles on the other side of the planet tipped with nuclear warheads ready to turn myself and everyone I knew into radioactive dust on a moments notice left a bit of a lasting impression Good times!

Global warming is going to be a lot slower end-of-the-world than being vaporized I am not looking forward to a 40 ft (12 meters) rise in sea level! I think global warming might actually be the real deal, instead of a lot of hype. The science is there, and it's pretty damn scary
