Description NOT FOR USE... yet

Played around with some things and this is what I came up with as a final draft ! I really like it I hope you guys like it too !! I will make it available for you guys to use when I make a public use one

So this is the idea I had in my head ! I think it'll be a lot easier to train horses when you don't have to draw a buttload of training images

To the right of the template you will see all of the moves I could think of in dressage (if there is anything missing, let me know !). Each move is a greyscale that can be colored to match the horses color and markings. The moves that the horse hasn't mastered yet are not colored and less visible.

To the left, you will see info such as the horses ref, name, rider, and tack (I will not provide the tack in the free template, you have to draw your own) and below it is the horses training schedule. Each time the horse moves up a level, (beginner, intermediate, advanced, master) you will have to make a weeks worth of stories from the horses training sessions. It doesn't have to be an essay but you should include it just so it does seem like your horse is getting trained instead of just filling out the template.

Also, in order for your horse to move up a level, you must make a picture of the horse 'mastering' that specific level (this can be a show image, a training image or whatever you can come up with, doesn't have to be full body! ~this is why the training stories are important because you aren't drawing 10,000 training images~)

I don't think that's too much to ask

Let me know what you think !! I will be making a template for show jumping, cross country, and hunt seat if this is a success
yay for crappy markings on the greyscales

I think it would be really awesome to do a foal version too, like halter training all the way to being broken in xD
I can't wait to use this template for all my new ponies though! It's an amazing idea

That sounds like a great idea !! I need ideas for poses tho Like halter training, lunging, trailer loading is pretty much all I can think of If you have any ideas for poses feel free to let me know !

Thank you ! I can't wait to see what you make with this template and what stories you come up with !

Just piggy backing off the foal idea!! I have some "poses" ideas. Lifting feet, leading, bathing, desensitizing, it could go all the way up to first ride even!

WWHSTUD [2014-05-30 00:30:41 +0000 UTC]

that is pretty neat! i enjoy drawing training images so i iwll still be drawing them but something like this to just say "look my horse has been trained in this (maybe just draw 1 training image of the horse performing that move to prove)" and then highlight it on the list

An awesome idea and i htink im gonna need one for every discipline lol.

Thank you !! And more disciplines to come I just have to get around to making the poses

MissDudette [2014-05-29 20:45:27 +0000 UTC]

Eeeeep, we desperately need it for all disciplines, really. :3

That and the big breed groups need to accept it too. :/

Decorum100 In reply to MissDudette [2014-05-29 21:57:26 +0000 UTC]

I hope they accept it !! I think this is such a better way to do it than drawing a zillion training images AND you have an entire weeks worth of training in stories AND this template is extremely detailed so you know when, where, how etc your horse gets trained without drawing a buttload of images ! (regardless you still have to draw but just not as much )

This WILL be such a success.
I'm really exited to use this, it will probably also help to get new inspiration and draw other horses than my normal bunch.

I sure hope so !!

And I think this is going to inspire me too ! I like having a really detailed stable so I think this is perfect for me

wingedbutt In reply to Decorum100 [2014-05-30 07:16:14 +0000 UTC]

Me too ~
And horses that don't get attention will be a little more active too.
With some breeds (Not saying names ) you HAVE to be active with your horse or it'll get taken away and they don't understand that we're not slaves or robots. We still have a personal life.

bunnandcott [2014-05-28 17:11:38 +0000 UTC]

ohh and i do have a small suggestion! maybe you can switch the 'collected' and 'extended' gaits around. i think it's more common to first work on the looseness in the horse and work towards rhythm and relaxation before you start collecting the horse. this is because it requires more muscle strenght to collect your horse. at least if you follow that typical german 'takt, losgelassenheit, anlehnung, schwung, geraderichtung and versammlung' scale thingy. just a small suggestion, i think the rest of the fases are placed really nicely!

Decorum100 In reply to bunnandcott [2014-05-29 22:06:08 +0000 UTC]

I'm not a dressage rider so I have no idea if any of these moves are right ! Hunt seat rider probs But I might keep the moves where they are just cause I guess where a horses head is gets better with time

But I do need help deciding show jumping poses/moves I want to make it the same amount of moves as the dressage so I don't know exactly how to extend it !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bunnandcott In reply to Decorum100 [2014-05-30 07:42:16 +0000 UTC]

i saw what you made from the jumping template. i think it's cool! maybe you could add 'riding a complete course' somewhere (maybe the last one?). because learning different types of jumps is important, but being able to do a whole course of them is a whole different thing.

still i want to point out that what you're making is amazing! maybe you can use these tips, but definitely don't take them as critique, because really it's AWESOME already!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Decorum100 In reply to bunnandcott [2014-06-04 14:23:26 +0000 UTC]

True true !! I think that after they complete a level they would be able to do a small course (intermediate training) then a bigger and bigger course for the advanced and master levels And thank you so much !!

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

BangGoesReality In reply to bunnandcott [2014-05-28 18:01:46 +0000 UTC]

you actually do half way extended (medium trot) and then collected trot, extension takes a lot of power to stay off the forhand and move forwards xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bunnandcott In reply to BangGoesReality [2014-05-28 18:27:40 +0000 UTC]

yes yes, of course! you do indeed do small extension first. but you do agree that (any form of) extension goes before collection?

ReneeScarted [2014-05-28 15:10:14 +0000 UTC]

This is something awesome! I love the idea and the effort you put into this, though I can't see where you can tell the horse's level >_< Awesome work nonetheless

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Decorum100 In reply to ReneeScarted [2014-05-29 22:01:37 +0000 UTC]

The top moves are the beginner then it goes intermediate, advanced, and master So glad you like it !! I can't wait to make it available for you guys to use !

ElmGateEC [2014-05-28 14:19:50 +0000 UTC]

I think this is a great idea! A lot better then drawing a ton of images and not being sure if it's quite enough yet

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Decorum100 In reply to ElmGateEC [2014-05-29 22:03:18 +0000 UTC]

Right ?! I always feel like I need to train my horses more and I barely have time to do show images and AHHH I feel like this is a good method AND you're still training your horse even if you don't draw every single move because you explain it in stories ! I had a stroke of GENIUS

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

PinkLionArt [2014-05-28 14:14:37 +0000 UTC]

I think this is a great way to train your horses but for me I think I'd rather somehow design my own template. Would that be okay as long as I credited you for the idea and concept?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Decorum100 In reply to PinkLionArt [2014-05-28 14:16:31 +0000 UTC]

Sure ! I can make a journal with the basics for a template and how to move on to the next training level and such so you can just link back to that journal Tag me as well because I'd love to see what you come up with !!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bunnandcott In reply to Decorum100 [2014-05-28 16:36:58 +0000 UTC]

yeah i was thinking the same! if everyone could create their own template's design as long as there's credit for your idea, it would really be nice! the idea is truly amazing, very well done darling!
