Description
KirkjufellIceland
Kirkjufell is one of 'the' landmarks in Iceland that photographers rightfully flock to. It is a conical shaped mountain on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula on the far west of the country. The nearest town of Grundarfjordur is a beautiful town set in a bay. A few kilometres away lies this mountain with a beautiful small waterfall nearby that tends to dominate compositions of images taken with this mountain. The weather was not kind to us on both of our visits to the area, however, on the last evening in the area, the skies cleared beautifully to provide us the opportunity for this image.

What a landmark. Nice shot. My only suggestions would be to brighten the top of the mountain (GND?) and balance the reflections so that they are darker than the real sky. Otherwise, very beautiful.

thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately, the mountain is already dodged as much as it could be without it appearing a grey blob! probably a scene to do with exposure blending in retrospect!

Yeah ... you don't wanna go over the top. This definitely looks like a candidate for multiple exposures. Anyway an excellent shot.

Absolutely love the background, but the foreground gets in the way a bit. A more pano-like crop will take the grass and the flowers mostly out of the equation. Moments like that last just minutes and sometimes do not repeat for a long time, so we take what we can.

thanks for the comments - however, without the foregruond interest and the pink flowers in particular, all this picture would become to me is a reflection only. It's all subjective ( I do have a composition with what you said too just doesn't hold enough personal interest for me )

Wow, that's absolutely amazing, even without the mountain.
I'd also like to give a personal thank you for including a proper description. Not a ... or a ~ or even some random poem, but for including some background information and some behind the scenes info that tells us about the making of that shot. I only wish more deviants describe their descriptions as well as you do, Dee-T.

thanks I don't really like self gratification type of descriptions unless that's what I was feeling at the time lol

Breath taking.... It's like a warmer version of Mount Reineer here where I live. There are these beautiful little purple flowers that only bloom during August and only in the Cascades, and we got lucky and saw them. I bet Papa still has plenty of photos from that trip, including the wild hamster.
