Description
Punchbowl FallsOregon
These falls in the Columbia River Gorge were one of my 'must see' destinations. As Tula Top and I set off on a morning hike, the conditions of clear blue skies did not look promising for waterfall photography but what a beautiful sight we were greeted with ! The rays of light lit up the waterfall spray and faint mist and leaves were scattered on the ground ( this one placed on the rock ).[Prints] Β [Facebook] Β [500px]

Hi, I love this image, and would really like to try painting it, maybe doing some modifications here and there. Would you be cool with that?

Hey there! I've featured your gorgeous photograph in my most recent journal, titled "Nature Feature." I hope you enjoy looking through the photographs I've chosen. And I hope you don't mind that I have featured this photograph.
Thanks and have a good day!
You can find the journal here:
Nature FeatureI think I'm going to start doing features in my journals so that I can easily change them and link back to them for people. I don't know how often I'll be doing them, but I'm thinking once or twice a month. Or it might be completely random. Who knows, haha?
I can't decide whether I'd like to feature a few artists along with a few of my favourite pieces of theirs or if I'd like to just feature some pieces I love... with a general theme or not...? I just don't know. So maybe I'll give all of those ideas a try.
Alrighty, so I think I'll do it by theme today. Today's theme is...
Nature!
In all of her glory, featured by photographers on DA. Enjoy!

Excellent! Is this an HDR photo, or were you relying on PhotoShop?

HDR can be done many different ways - 4 exposures were blended using luminosity masks and other masking techniques in photoshop for this one (I prefer not to use automated software methods like HDR EFEX pro or photomatix)

Okay. Is there any particular reason you prefer PS to HDR software? I'd like to get into HDR stuff soon

if you learn the theory of how to do it manually then you can really do anything you want and achieve the look you want
if you use automated software, the final look will always point at a certain software package being used and less individualityΒ

I tried a very cheap HDR program recently and it was pretty terrible, so Β that's a good point. I'll have to try altering my own photos with Artweaver. Β
