Description Butte Creek Falls

Oregon

If you are even in the vicinity of Salem or Portland, don't forget to drop by the tiny town of Scotts Mills en route to Abiqua Falls and Butte Creek Falls. The lighting that greeted me there was just glorious. Three shots blended to cover the dynamic range of the scene.

Absolutely wonderful capture. It reminds me of the beauty outweighed by the dismal in most everyday life.

I think you should have used less off the fake sunrays .. doesn't look realistic at all

If you think these are fake rays, I really do feel for you.

There are photoshoppers out there to deceive and there are those who enhance an incredible scene and light.

Just in case you still feel that I'm pulling your leg - this is unedited footage of the scene www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlXOQn…

Cool .. .. i see i am wrong and i apologize ..

The video is very convincing .. the vapor from the waterfall creates a cool effect.

But you are right many people do deceive by creating sunrays with photoshop.

You are obviously not. Thank you for showing me the video.

It has been boggling my brain for a long time.

no problems - I think because of the amount of digital art going on , it does influence us into thinking 'post process' before reality with a bizarre scene like this!

Dylan, please tell me all about that lens! It's the only one missing in my kit. I would love to purchase it but it is so expensive that I don't know if I can afford it.

BTW, this photo is beyond stunning!

Dee-T In reply to raquelvonkaminaru [2013-12-01 20:19:53 +0000 UTC]

the lens is fantastic but corner sharpness can be an issue out at 16mm.

Honestly, unless you need to F2.8 (we do for weddings and alot of night images)  -the 17-40mm is just as good for traditional landscapes

raquelvonkaminaru In reply to Dee-T [2013-12-02 08:26:10 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the reply.

I usually don't use wide angles in landscapes only. I photograph cars and architecture with wide angles because i love the distorted effect. Brings a punch to the photos.

And yes, something I shoot in dark places.... 2.8 would do wonders...

Maybe it is better to use photoshop .. no lens is capable of capturing this image.
