Description
KirkjufellIceland
This was one of the last shots of a beautiful evening just outside Grundarfjordur when the weather finally began to clear. The previous 2 days had been washed out with solid rain. I used manual blending of 4 exposures and a photomatix produced image in this one. In coming weeks, I hope to present a video on Iceland flicking through every picture I took there in 2010 case people were curious!
This is an example of the 'photoreel' videos I've been working on : from Nepal in this case

This is what it's all about, to capture shear beauty in the shapes of nature. Truly a majestic sight you've managed to capture here. Great job!

Really like this photo of Kirkjufell... I have always wanted to be traveler in my own country and see it through the eyes of how a traveler sees it and this is a beautiful example...
Look forward to see the video

this is freakin gorgeous dude! i see a FAINT halo/glow around the mountain though. i'm sure it was hard to mask. have u tried using luminosity masks?

cool. how do u get that soft glowy effect on the entire image? do u just copy the layer, blur it, and then adjust the opacity or something?

Steve - that's about it - duplicated layer with a heavy gaussian blur of about 20 radius, blend mode luminosity , pick a percent opacity (about20%) and mask in and out bits of that layer as you see fit!

I don't like the processing, but if dealt with properly this image could be spectacular and the composition is excellent.

Yes, Iceland is certainly a beautiful place, other than perhaps the weather. I have far too many pictures with grey skies from my visits. It's the only place I've ever been where I've taken sunrise and sunset shots around midnight...
