Description
Eilean Donan CastleScotland
This is surely one of the most iconic places to photograph in Scotland. My approach to photographing these places is to take that iconic shot (usually because its claim to fame is well established and pleasing the eye) - but then to try taking angles that I haven't seen before. Marianne and I wondered out to the rocks on the other side of the castle to take a few images from this angle. We were lucky in that the tide was low and the water glassy still for a while. As we always predict, our presence at an unusual spot drew some other people out to this spot. It was quite a slippery rock surface and an old gentleman slipped with a very heavy thud - he seemed to have escaped without major injury thankfully.

You found a way to shoot this at low tide and it's great. We were there twice and it was low tide both times so I didn't manage to get any water into the forground of my shots. I guess I should have done more wandering. I was on the other side of the bridge.

You should watch it again, then It's funny that when you have been there, you see a lot of houses. But in the movie (of course) no house to find

that's a great approach in your artist's comments. what's the most challenging thing about it?
the colors are so beautiful! rainy day storms, but the castle seems to be glowing. and the water is so still, it reflects so clearly. great shot.

This is just beautiful. There is a reason this location is popular and you have captured what others seek.
