Description
Durbar SquareKathmandu
Marianne and I have just returned from a wonderful trek to Annapurna Base Camp. In the few days prior, we had the opportunity to wander around Kathmandu partly by ourselves and partly with the intrepid tour group we were with. Taking this shot was definitely not with the group or they would have gone insane waiting for us ! Durbar Square in Kathmandu is located 15 minutes walk from the main tourist district of Thamel and this particular spot is a favourite for children to run through and scatter pigeons. Livestock of all sorts roam the area too especially since we were there during the Dashain festival.

When Pigeons Attack. I saw that movie too. Really scary and freaky how the pigeons attacked.

This wouldn't be so fun if you saw the movie Alfred Hitchcock'S Birds.

Ho-lee cow. That's a veritable infestation of pigeons. Not sure how you could walk in that without getting *ahem* bombed.
I, too, thought it might have been digitally rendered for a moment, just because of the stark contrast of the birds against the sky and the very bright colors of this capture. So much grey makes the bright red temple look that much more vivid.

thanks very much - I used a 3 stop GND in this scene to control the sky lighting too

I'm totally clueless about photography but I'm sure that will be cool information for someone else who knows more here!
Well, at least I understand that you controlled the sky lighting. Nice!
