Description
Okay guys, another parodyOne thing that annoyed me the most in ME3 was the thing with the Shadow Broker.
In ME1 and ME2 he was mighty, even Cerberus didn't want to mess up with him.
Then Liara become the SB and we all thought "Yeah! A mighty companion!"
But what happend? Bioware gave us a Broker who is everytime one step behind our enemies.
Maybe you can say, after losing the ship on Hagalaz, that she have not "all" her information feeds... but please!
I think it is not fair for Liara. I liked her so much, and Bioware was not nice to her
Not only that Cerberus know everything before she do, on the terminal of Liara you can find "funny" messages she found... what should I think as the gamer?
That Liara only search for news of our friends. Okay, you find out that Liara ship some platinum to an impotant place... but you don't get any war assets for this XD
EDI and Samantha found out much more... why?
I think Liara didn't deserve to be... a "Shadow Broker-Side Kick".
But we all knew, that ME3 made some weird things in the story
This is only another one
Have fun

Liara is 109 years old, but she's not too old to get a spankingfrom Shepard. And with that end face, I think that's what she wants.

I think sometimes you need to excuse things like that. While inevitably one could "write the plot better" maybe even not have her as SB I don't know. You can't obviously have everything too realistic which begs the question as to why are you the only squad of specialists who can do the missions etc. I mean, I mean in the end its a game (a great one) so of course Liara had information on "funny" things and your friends.
Beh... what I'm getting at is that you have to give the game a bit of leeway when it comes to this and read between or rather fill in the lines. Assume that there was a good reason why things were as they were, after all if you had such a powerful ally... there would be not much need for much else.
Still I bloody love Liara's facial expressions in this one XD

My problem is.... with ME3.
The whole story was chnaged, and within this process, some things get a bit weird. Like the thing with the Broker.
I still love the game... but sometimes I have to cry out my anger

This perfectly sums up one of the issues I had with ME3 and that was Cerberus and their "unlimited resources". I despise that term, it is something lazy writers use as a means to explain how villains are able to pull off massive plans that shouldn't be able to do. Not only is Cerberus able to drop billions of credits into bring Shepard back from the dead and rebuild the Normandy from scratch, but then the Illusive Man is able to a massive army out off his ass that is able conquer Omega, invaded Eden Prime, and then attempt to over throw the Citadel Council and fight on multiple fronts against the Alliance. How is a terrorist group able to all this with out anyone figuring it? Did they have secret factories or something?Β

Thank you You are sooooo right!
This is lazy and the fault of Mac Walters... he is soooooo a fan of Cerberus and want to put it everywhere...
You read the new Foundation Comics? Those Comics who tells stories about the Normandy Squadmates before they join Shepard?
And in "every" Issue is Maya Brooks... I bet Mac want to put her and Cerberus in eeeeevery origin And that sux!
π: 0 β©: 1
aaaaceace In reply to Deemonef [2013-11-17 04:20:17 +0000 UTC]
Actually I have never heard about those comics before but I will certainly try and find them now. But as bad as Cerberus was, it is nothing compared to the two all time greatest offenders to the "unlimited resources" excuse, Hugo Strange from Batman Arkham City and Amon from Legend of Korra. Now don't get me wrong I love both of these franchises, but God almighty do these villains pull off some weird @ $$ sh!t. Amon is able to build an entire military complex including a prison, a tank factory and training ground beneath a city and on top of that he is able train and build a fleet of air ships as well as a squander of bomber plans with no one noticing. And Hugo Strange is able to cut off half of Gotham and turn it into a super prison where the criminals are allowed free reign without anyone mentioning how this would destroy the city's fragile economy or how it goes against the U.S Bill of Rights. So as bad as the Illusive Man became he still wasn't that bad.Β
Also who is Maya Brooks and where can I buy those comics.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Deemonef In reply to aaaaceace [2013-11-17 10:39:34 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, Amon is really weird... and btw. I think his bloodbending and the one of his brother and father is a biiiiit to imba
And With Hugo you are right too... sometimes I thunk the designer and writers don't think to an end before they release
And this is what I mean Maya Brooks is a character who appears in ME3 Citadel DLC, and she can die.. but she is MAc Walters favroite "pet" and he love her so much to bring her in eeeeevery origin

I'm downloading those comics too my Ipad later this week, thanks.Β
Also if I was writing Arkham City here is how I would write Strange's plan. First Hugo Strange would incite a gang war between all the different criminal factions, after selling them Titian Drugs and weapons. This in turn would allow Hugo's puppet mayor Sharp too declare marshal law without anyone asking too many questions about it or the death of many of Gotham's top criminals as Strange and the League of Shadows take them out one by one. Batman would also act as a pawn in the Doctor's plan, because once Batman and his allies captured the surviving criminals, Hugo would gas the prison they are being held at before ordering an assault by the Leagues top agents too mop up the survives disguised as police officers. Then Hugo could blame Mayor Sharp and Commissioner Gordon for the death of all the criminals and Batman, allowing him to escape detection and continue to expand his power both as the new leader of the League of Shadows and as the new Batman. It is a simpler plan with far less loos ends to tie up, not as many people would be asking questions, any laws Hugo's break would be far ether easier to cover up, and he would look like just some innocent doctor who only wanted too heal the mentally ill but was swept up by a power hungry, self-righteous politician who manipulated the doctor for his own ends until the good doctor turned on him and saved Gotham, even if he was too late to save Batman. This would give him the political capital he would need to build a base of support for his future plans, as well as use Batman's mythical status as a way to rally his followers.Β
So what do you think? Is that a better plan than the one they came up with? Β Β
Also what does Imba stand for?
π: 0 β©: 1
Deemonef In reply to aaaaceace [2013-11-19 19:52:58 +0000 UTC]
This is a real good plan
This is how it really could work
Would be better the game took this plan
And imba means "imbalanced" for example. A weapon who is imbalanced in a game can kill you with one strike.
It means that something is too mighty

In defense of my beloved Liara.
It is her, that found about the Crucible, if Illusive Man didn't bug the Mars Outpost with Eve, he wouldn't find out.
Also, I think Shadow Broker relies more on human(or alien) resources. So when the Galaxy gone to shit, a lot of assests were lost (died), or deciced they have much more important buissness (like getting the hell out of attacked planets), than reporting to SB. While the Illusive Man relies on mind controlled slaves, and has Reaper-based tech.
Also Cerberus grows to be a threat nearly equal as the Reapers in ME3, while being a military-industrial complex shadow lobby, with some shady connections and terrorism in ME 1 and 2. Also they had to have good intelligence, as they knew about SB(Yagh) trying to steal Shepards body and sell it to collectors, also knowing about Liara's quest to retrive it.
Therefore, the longer the war lasts, the weaker the SB is, playing more as a support role in matter of resources and strategic intelligence to the Galactic Community, and less in digging secrets.
π: 0 β©: 1
Deemonef In reply to Everial [2013-10-28 14:24:53 +0000 UTC]
All you say it nearly right and I never was against this points.
And I never wanted to bug Liara.
I dislike the story in this case.
The story of ME3 seems totally different from ME1 and ME2.
As you said Cerberus turned into a over powerful organization. Because Mac Walters want to make them bigger⦠this is the reason why in all Foundation Comics Cerberus is in every origin story XD
I dislike the fact, that Liara seems so powerless as a Broker. Maybe you are right with the human/alien ressources but you cannot find it explicit in the game, that she do it.
I never called, that Liara do nothing. I like her character very much
Only the story is weird.
The SB was all the time a guy with secrets and information.
Liara turned into another kind of Broker and this is okay. She helps you in a good way.
But not seeing the βreally importantβ secrets is very bad.
π: 0 β©: 1
Everial In reply to Deemonef [2013-10-28 14:37:20 +0000 UTC]
With the Foundation Comics you really make interesting point, I didn't think about that, but seems right.
And yeah, they wen't overboard with Cerberus. I can get ground forces, they are relatively cheap, and Shepard, no matter if she wanted it, made Cerberus popular, therefore no lack of volunteers.
But the fleets? I mean, really, they seemed to have like almost Turian size fleet of ruisers. Even if you are controling much of military complex, there are limits to how many crusiers you can pop out in half a year.
But I guess in fight reality vs. storytelling, storytelling wins, even if it ends up a bit inconsistent.
And yeah, I get you didn't mean to bug Liara. I just wrote some FF lately (which I prolly will put on DA), and kinda forgot to use smiles . Now that I read my comment, it sounds more serious than I wanted it to be

All is okay, now I saw your smileys
Yeah, the story of the whole trilogy is great
Only the end of ME3 and some story parts are a bit weird
And yeah Cerberus is to mighty, and Mac Walter give them too much room
Sometimes I think, the Reaper are not the main enemy
