This is how the skull looks like when I am don using my copycarver. After this i still have some sanding and fine detail carvings to do. I thaught you might enjoy seeing how the skull looked before I finish it. ( this peace wont be finished cause I actually like the texture)Related content

Aside from seeing your other photos of the copy-carver I am unfamiliar with this process but it looks very interesting! I assume this is faster than doing it by eye, but how much faster? I agree, the rough texture has a nice appeal to it, which is funny because I think so many carvers are trained to strive for the smoothest finish and cuts possible. Yet, this has a nice primal feel to it.

well mine was inspired by some youtube videos I took ideas from all of them and made it in to my own XD and well for me its about twice as fast. so that helps when your on a time limit. And yea I also used to try to get it as smooth as possible but now I sometimes try to mix them up create contrasts and stuff ^^ and it really works well on the copy venus ( I don't know if you saw that one) it has this oddly satisfying mixture of refined and rough.
