Description
This is a peace I carved from ash wood ( I think).Its my interpretation of the monkey king ( Son go kong, Hanuman)
I hope you guys like it.
The hair is burned black with a torch and the face was painted with oil-paint.
I also used a high gloss lacquer on the toot, the eyes and a bit of the crown.
Ps. sorry for the crappy layout but i just had to show all these pic's.

This is really great! I really like how the back was not neglected. I have wanted to try my hand at wood carving one of these days, especially after I see work like this. I always wanted to do something like this and 'paint' it with all different colors of stains. Very inspiring!
Other than chisels and burning tools, do you recommend anything else?

well gouges of course but i think you ment that with chisels XD files and sandpaper are importand hmm well i would say some good saws are handy aw well to saw out the rough form. oo and if you don't mined using powered tools than a dremel could help you out loads. you might also wanne get some detail knifes for fine details ( you can even make them your self, loads of DIY youtube tutorials) so i hope that helps you and if you have any more Q's just ask me ^^ and ty for the compliment i am glad you like it.
