I think this is the proudest I've ever been of a portrait... it took me about a week and produced more pencils shavings than I care to think about, but it turned out really well! This was also my first time drawing water like this, so that was an interesting challenge. The hardest part was trying to draw his pores - you can't just dot them in, but without the texture, the skin looks too smooth!
I kind of decided to wing it with that. This is a 11x17 drawn with 7H - 8B pencils. The reference is not mine, and can be found here: wetmen.provocateuse.com/images…
