Description
This was harder and longer than I thought @_@This is pretty much from oldest to newest (some things are not in the right order, though), what has influenced me mostly since I started drawing anime-ish stuff back in.... 1995? God, I'm old xD
Some of what's here still inspires/influences me. Some not.
Saint Seiya
This was got me started into anime and made me trace and copy and try to mimic the style and all. It also made me try to come up with my own characters and stories.
The recent manga "The Lost Canvas" drawn by Shiori Teshirogi has made me drool over Saint Seiya once again <3
Naoko Takeuchi
When Sailor Moon came into my life, I learned to love schoolgirls and magical girls and flowy shiny wavy hair and other girly things~ I loved the manga colored art, and I tried my best to attempt it with colored pencils at that time, hehe. Of course, I also made up a couple of stories of magical girls because of this.
RG Veda (And other early CLAMP works).
RG Veda was my first manga. Funny thing is that the male protagonist is based off a Saint Seiya character xD
As my first manga (before Sailor Moon), it made me pick the fineliners and try to ink things and try B/W. (also made me love tragic endings 8D)
Rurouni Kenshin
This and Samurai Shodown (videogame) made me fall in love with all traditional japanese. I still take a look at the manga every now and then, Nobuhiro Watsuki's work is so clean it's just <3
Cardcaptor Sakura
Back to CLAMP <3 This would lead me later to more cute art (see Koge Donbo)
Atelier Iris (1, 2 and 3)
My first and pretty much only RPG. This is responsible for Ishtera and the reason why I tried to draw characters that would change poses/expressions... which is what I do for a living now
Koge Donbo
Koge Donbo is the responsible of the *huge* eyes I end up drawing every now and then xD I think I got sick of the super diabetes-inducing cute style at some point, but parts of it likes to come through every now and then >>;
Digimon 02
Digimon 02 and Tamers pretty much got me my first online artist friends, made me oekaki and later would make me join dA following the friends I made back then.
Tolkien
I read TLotR, the Hobbit and the Silmarillion back in high school and fell in love with them. I pick them up to read them again every now and then and they always manage to inspire me greatly (now, I never do anything useful with that inspiration, but that's a different problem >>... )
Eureka SeveN
after Fullmetal (see below), this was what I got into. I tried to get the style to rub off me, because I thought it was really cool. I got the manga later and I still use it for inspiration and reference when I'm stuck.
Fullmetal Alchemist
This one should have been bigger, but I was out of room >>; Fell in love with the anime by the time I started studying illustration. I decided if I wanted to make good fanart of it, I'd have to mimic the style, so most of the first anime style got mixed into what I had previously. I got into the manga later, and in whatever attempt at manga-making I'd try, Arakawa would come through.
Alfons Mucha
Just like Tolkien, this is something that has been around for a while in my life. My older cousin (my role model) loves Art nouveau, so I always end up looking at Mucha's art every now and then. I love the colors, the shapes and details he has on his pictures, and how he plays with text and other graphic elements and ornaments. Very inspiring!
Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou
The artists behind Eureka SeveN manga. I loved them so much I found the other manga they have, Deadman Wonderland, and started following it. I'm buying it as soon as it comes out over here.
Shuffle!, Tony Taka, Kokonoka and other VN artists
Shuffle! was what got me into VN art in the first place. Then I started looking for and collecting pretty CGs on my hard drive for inspiration and reference. Tony Taka is my inspiration for erotic art I have to do every now and then for work
Shigenori Soejima
The artist of Persona 3 and 4. Enough said xD I'm trying to get some of his awesomeness mixed up on my 'style', so maybe my stuff gets better xD
Glider
I found this artist by looking at Len/Rin Vocaloid videos. I love how cute and clean his work is, and also how he can mix colors in a painter-y style on some other pictures. This is the one artist I constantly stalk and I always get inspired by him <3
Noizi Ito
Since I never managed to have the "everybody wants to be Hyun Tae Kim" phase, I got into the "everybody wants to be Noizi Ito" fad xD
In all seriousness, I love her work and I reference her a lot. hence the huge size it has on my map xD
That's all
After looking at the influence maps of some awesome artists here on dA, mine feels so lame! xD I feel it's time to expand my horizons and try to look up to some more 'serious' artists than just flat anime stuff and develop a more personal style that may also inspire others in the future as a unique source of inspiration
Who knows~
Wow, this took me so long it's not nice >> I should have finished what I was doing by now and I barely started, aghhhh!!! @_@

I love CLAMP, Rurouni Kenshin, and Fullmetal Alchemist too. But I'm only really influenced by CLAMP.

I'd never heard of the the "everybody wants to be Hyun Tae Kim" phase, I had no idea he was that popular. I also never had that phase either, he exaggerates hip width/torso length too much and is overly fond of clothes that look painted on for my tastes. Pretty good at digital coloring, though.

haha, a lot of the good artists I know from my 'generation' went through that phase xD
I like his digital coloring, but was never fond of his proportions, tbh. I just never became a fan of his work, so I never tried to mimic him in any way, I think

From what I can tell, you didn't mimic him. None of your characters look particularly deformed, after all.
Though yeah, I was a little early for the full effect of the Hyun Tae Kim phase, I was already thoroughly impressed with Capcom 2D fighter art. But the bigger reason I never knew he was quite that popular was probably that most of my artists friends in high school and art school were the types that wouldn't touch anything remotely anime-esque with a ten foot pole in the first place. I was definitely out of the eastern art fandom loop until I got more active online.
