I have seen it multiple times in my time in secondary school that people can be ignored. I never was as I never allowed myself to be
but I know people who were and are still 'awkward'. So I make my mission that whenever I stride into class, to sit with anyone who is by themselves! (I know who prefers to sit by themselves and who doesn't choose to).
Just take one class, you don't always have to sit with your friends, and you can explain to them if they get upset, but it can make a big difference to someone who feels excluded for someone like ya to appear and take an interest in them!
So yea, you could make a HUGE impact on someone just by simply choosing to sit with them and saying hello! It might not seem like much to you, but it could really mean the world to them.
And the title choice cuz I felt it truly fit

I've always sat with the odd ones out and talked to them as they stared at me. XD; I never found it odd. I guess from a young age... I just hate seeing people alone. I used to cry just when my Dad would go to the store alone and not take me. XDD I'm whacked.

I need someone like you in my choir class. I transferred from band, so now I'm "band geek". The teacher is nice, and lets me get out of class to make photocopies, but since we have that student teacher relationship, not only am I band geek, but also "kiss ass" and "teacher's pet". My so called friends are joining in, cause they think everyone's just kidding around, but I don't have the heart to tell them that their comments really hurt. If I even try to protest, they'll get mad at me for being to serious. They want the old me back. The one before my life got turned upside down. And I just don't know how to tell them that I want her back too, but I don't know how to find her...
See, this is why I'm awkward around people. I want to tell my life story to them, and it's incredibly awkward for both of us. I just... don't know how to act.

In my friend group, I'm always the one who ends up in a class without a friend. My cousin told me that when she got to high school, she stopped worrying about who could be her friend and started thinking about who she could be a friend to. Now, instead of sitting alone and wondering why I have no luck, I find the kid like me and sit next to them.

My year group (Fionn 2) is the smallest class group with 23 pupils, so we always get the new students and there's ALWAYS a spare seat or two (normally by me). My friends are all in a different year group (and some in the year above me) so most of the time I either sit with two guy friends or alone. Teachers try to stop me sitting alone, but to be honest, I don't really share interests much with the girls in my class, and the ones that I do are total and utter a$$wipes. So I sit alone, or if I'm bored or need a distraction or a chat, a lovely, wonderful group of girls.
But because of this, I do this for every "new" person, because they sit beside me, not knowing a thing. And we either bond or I point them over to people who they would bond with more.

This reminds of me first day in high school about two months ago. I was so awkward and sat alone at lunch then someone spoke to me.
I later found out that they spoke to me because they liked my hair xD

I can be kinda 'awkward' too a lot of the time so it's often hard for me to find a partner or someone to sit next to, and usually just get last pick

have you seen that movie? i've heard it's pretty good.
one time i sat with this new kid during lunch and he had like no friends. so then the kid like stalked my life and invited me to his birthday and everything. like that's how much he wanted a friend. it was actually kinda creepy
