Wow, this is old. O_O
I think it looks like more of a coyote rather than a wolf (muzzle, legs, and body are way too thin, ect) but thank you for the tutorial. I haven'tΒ drawn any wolves with normal legs yet. XD

The neck is too long to be perfectly honest with you. But sorry about criticising. I'm the last person who should. XD lol. But other than that. Nice tutorial.Β

i don't know how old this is or how much it has improved (and i'm hacking my brother's account) but i've been hunting for tutorials, and in most i've notices that the back doesn't arc as much, and the neck doesn't stand as tall, i also noticed that the tail is quite short.
but if this is old don't get mad at me, i'm just comparing my findings.

This actually looks more like a fox. The long fluffy tail, large ears, long neck, skinny body, and the narrow muzzle make it look a lot like a fox. Very nice work!

I really like this! ^^ It's simple, and easy to understand. :3 And for all those flaming you saying that it's not the right way to draw wolves, ect, ect, I say they should leave you alone. There is no right or wrong way to draw. ^^ Besides, I saw no where that it's to draw them realistically. I personally like the way you draw them. :3

'Course. ^^ I hate it when people flame others for their drawing style, and this helped me, ALOT. Until I saw this, I couldn't do the legs worth shiz. I like simple tutorials better than complicated. Plus, it adds more room for the artist to develop their own styles. ^^

Eh, I was looking up tutorials and I stumbled across this. To be honest, I think you are confusing style and anatomy. Just because it has structure doesn't mean it's anatomically correct. And just because your stylizing it doesn't mean you can draw it however you want. You would still have to be able to tell it's a wolf, and to be honest, this looks more like a fox.
I'm not trying to start any trouble or bash your style, because I do like your style, but I just thought I would clear that up for you. ^^ (Also, I know this is kinda old, so sorry if I am pointing out something you would probably already know by now.)
I highly recommend you read this because it basically sums up what I mean: [link]

This should be titled "How to draw sparkledogs" instead.
Back is roached. Straighten it out. A wolf's spine remains level from withers to croup unless there's some horrible birth defect. The scapulae do not extend over the spine.
Lower legs too long. Back foot should be even with the end of the pelvis when at ease.
Muzzle too pointy, undershot jaw, eyes too low, ears overlong and ill-set. Wolves have sort-of-deep muzzles with a slight taper, very little stop, and a scissor bite (meaning the top incisors fit neatly over the bottom incisors with little to no space between them). The eyes should be deeply set with the inner edges level with the centre of the skull (side view). The only subspecies with ears that tall and pointy is the domestic dog.
Legs too thin. Wolves are distance runners with somewhat-thick leg bones, broad paws, and highly limited range of movement in the elbow, knee, wrist, and hock (to prevent hyperextension while running).
Extreme tuckup only seen in specimens about to die of starvation or in sighthounds. A healthy wolf's belly appears even between elbow and knee.
Head carried too high even for a ranking individual. Wolves keep their heads level with their spines when walking/running, save when posturing; even then, their anatomy would make head carriage this high extremely painful.
Tail blobbed in without consideration of structure. Start from scratch. The tail is an extension of the spine roughly the same length as the distance from the forepaw to shoulder. Normally held relaxed; ranking individuals move with tail on level with spine. It's straight, not curved, and comes to a point rather than flaring out. The overall shape of a furred tail is an elongated lozenge.
If your local zoo has wolves, go draw from life; this is absolutely the best way to learn how to draw anything β from observation. Study photos and videos of real wolves and their skeletons. You will never, ever become a good artist by copying others' work, especially the "popular" crap you find on this website; nor will you ever become a good artist if you plug your ears when offered critique/criticism and make excuses for why your work needs correcting. In order to learn and improve you MUST accept that there is room to do so.
Please do not encourage others to stagnate this way and continue the circlejerk of horrendously-bad animal construction. Find out what wolves actually look like and learn how to draw them before trying to teach others. Thank you.

Now this, this is helpful. I have been trying to teach myself how to draw wolves, and wolves specifically, and it really is hard with the skeletons and whatnot but with people posting sparkledogs under anatomy it sure doesn't help me in any way. :/

I never said that this tutorial is perfect. The way i draw my wolves is stylized, its a personal choice. I do know that this looks out of the norm for a wolf but I like it that way, I will take your advice and look at pictures because we have no zoo's or any wolves where I live.

I think there's some problem in the proportion. The legs are too small for real or is it just me hehhehe
Nice "how I draw my wolves" btw... ^_^

yah anatomy doesn't just fall under the godly perfect insane category.. there is many different styles to drawing anatomy. anatomy is the science dealing with the structure of animals and plants. Do you see structure because i sure do! But i rather not waste my time dealing with some immature bim bo who thinks they are the shit! thank you have a nice day
